Today was the auspicious day of Maha Ardra Puja which was observed at Kadavul with a magnificent abhishekam to Nataraja.
Since we cannot take pictures of Nataraja, we will share others, starting with this famous picture of Gurudeva who blessed us all with this temple.
Yoginathaswami coordinated with about eight of the other monks who all worked hard for several days preparing a long list of abhishekam items and garlands for today’s truly transcendent puja. Small containers are prepared in advance to hold the honey poured over the murthi during the puja, to share with devotees.
Sadhaka Tejadevanatha is back from his Sojourn in the World. 108 young coconuts were prepared in advance. This was just one of the items used for the bathing of Nataraja which went on for nearly an hour!
The kumbha pot in front which was the last of the items poured over Nataraja.
Gallons and gallons of milk and yogurt (yes, from our own cows)…
One has to be here to see Nataraja all covered in white (yogurt) which is truly an awesome sight!
Offering the arati after each item is poured…
This is artist Manivelu’s depiction of Nataraja in Kadavul temple….
The Sivalingam in front of Nataraja is a pure quartz crystal that originally came from Brazil and was carved into the Hiranyagarbha oval lingam shape by a laboratory in Germany…
The devotees sing Yogaswami’s Natchintanai songs during the “alankaram” or “beautification/dressing” of the deity when the curtains are closed.
The final arati…
It is a transcendent moment for everyone present
Nataraja is magnificently adorned with garlands and flowers.
Nataraja and our Guru lineage are carved into stone above the doorway to the sanctum of Iraivan….
Siva’s blessings pour out to the entire world.
