Sri Subramuniya Kottam Celebrates Vaikasi Visakam

This year’s full moon day in May, Vaikasi Visakam, marked the 60th anniversary of Gurudeva’s initiation by Yogaswami. At Sri Subramuniya Kottam in Kopay, Sri Lanka, at noon, a special puja was held to Gurudeva and Yogaswami to honor this occasion.

Sixty years ago, in 1959 May full moon day evening, Gurudeva first went to Nallur Murugan temple and worshiped, then went to Yogaswami’s ashram in Columbuthurai where he had his first darshan of Yogaswami and received initiation.

After the puja, lunch was served to all those who attended.

In commemoration of this auspicious event, on the full moon day in May 2009, Kottam children and elders pilgrimaged to the Nallur Murugan temple to worship, then continued to Yogaswami’s ashram in Columbuthurai where they worshiped and sang Natchinthanai songs to honor and celebrate this occasion.
