Today the Siddhidata Kulam gave their report. Yoginathaswami said another shipment of stones is about to leave India from Chennai. He also reported on progress on the water-proof roof of Iraivan. Sadhaka Adinatha described the kulam’s work in the garden. As fall is here they are switch to winter crops and broccoli and cauliflower will soon be planted. They are also experimenting with new varieties of taro. The taro root is very nutritious and we have almost eliminated imported potatoes completely from our diet as switch to native foods like breadfruit and taro.

Song to Lord Murugan

For over thirty years Gurudeva gave granite images to help start many temples throughout America and around the world. This gift has entered the temple puranam (Temple History Story) of many temples. We just recently received this note from Kanniks Kannikeswaran

“Namaste, I am forwarding another song here that I had composed in Tamil in commemoration of the kumbhabhishekam of the image of Murugan (with Valli and Devasena) at the Cincinnati temple. The image was gifted to the temple by Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami. [referred to in the song as the “sage of Kauai”]

(One who delights in the beautiful tamil of Avvaiyaar)

(the son of the destroyer of the tripuras i.e. the five faces Siva)

(One who recited the praNava in the capacity of the guru of Siva)

(one who blesses those that approach him)
nava puramenum pazhamudir padiyinil viLangum perumALE
(pazhamudirsolai murugan in the form of murugan at navapuram)

Note: The image of Murugan with Valli and Devasena was presented to the Cincinnati temple by Satguru Sivaya Subramuniya Swami of the Kauai Aadheenam; the image was consecrated in 2004 in the presence of Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami . The Cincinnati Hindu temple is located just of the NewTown exit (navapuram): Murugan here is conceived as ‘palamudirsolai murugan’. I sang and recorded this composition in 2003. It was released as part of a CD titled ‘Skanda’ at the kumbhabhishekam in 2004.

Thanks and regards,
Kanniks
