Sun One – Welcome to Roshan Vallavan Sendan!
We began a bright new phase today with homa and delightful talk by Bodhinatha. We are catching up on Bodhinatha’s audio files and you can check out the new link posted on the right today and we will be bringing you his upadesha’s for the month of March and April in the days to come.
Today was a most auspicious one for new soul entered the Saivite Hindu religion. Little two month old, Rohan…. Sendan received his Namakarana Samskara (Name-Giving Ceremony) today.
Father, Jothi and mother Vasuki participate in the Sankalpam. This is their fourth child.
Senthilnathaswami performs the homa today…
The father, Jothi, whispered three times into the baby’s right ear:
Oh child, thou art born of the family Sendan,
So thy name is also Sendan
And thy given name is Rohan Vallavan
Now the father says three times so all can hear:
Oh Divine Ones, we beseech your blessings,
In the sacramental name-giving of this Saivite Hindu soul.
We vow to raise this child according
To the principles of the Sanatana Dharma.
Please bless this child,
Whose family name is Sendan.
And whose given name is Rohan Vallavan
and then writes the name in rice….
The rice tray is passed over the fire….
Finally, an official certificate documenting the name-giving is signed, by Bodhinatha, mother, father and witnesses.

Bodhinatha's Latest Upadesha: "Detachment from Experiences; Importance of Daily Vigil" (May 5, 2013)
All experiences are good experiences, necessary to get us here. Awareness of aspects of ourselves that are constantly changing is a liberating perception, breaking our chains to mundane areas, detaching from instinctive and intellectual to go into superconscious. The greatest challenge facing youth today is the lack of relating to the devotional side of Hinduism. Daily practice, daily vigil, moves us forward spiritually. Commentary on Merging with Siva, The Master Course, Lesson 21.
