Call from Brahmachari Vel in Paris

Here is Vel on his last day. He gave a rousing speech to thank Gurudeva and all the monks. Yogi Jothinatha translated into English. Vel called from Paris today where he is visiting his brother before going home. He said: “I can’t believe how cold it is here and how many pieces of clothing people wear!”

Mauritius Spiritual Park Ganesha Homa January 2010

Jai Ganapati! We started year 2010 with a beautiful and uplifting Ganesha Homa at the Spiritual Park on the 2nd January 2010. Despite new year festivities in the island keeping everyone busy, the whole park was crowded with devotees lovingly making their way on the property with their tray of offerings.

Sitting close to the murthi is a humble privilege for those who come early…

Our sishyas were there early too to manage all the hundreds baskets of fruits and flowers brought to the Park.

The devotees in the tent waiting for the ceremony to start.

The sivalingam is the favorite place of worship reminding everyone of the Supreme Creator-Lord Siva.

Down the steps volunteers are giving a helping hand.

Lord Pancha Mukha Ganapati beautifully garlanded at the Ganapati Shrine.

Devotees like to offer a lighted earthen lamp to the Lord Ganapati at this sacred place.

Our guest that Sunday was Sivacharya Ganessen from Tanjavur, who is at present officiating at one of the Temples in Mauritius. Sivacharya chanted some powerful vedic mantrams during the final part of the ceremony.

After the arati to Lord Pancha Mukha Ganapati the lighted camphor is poured into the homa pit.

Kulapatis are seated at each of the four sides of the pit to conduct the ceremony.

As usual, hundreds of written prayers have been burnt in the sacred fire. Then followed a short silent meditation. Here is Kulapati Siven Koothan giving a talk sent by Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami on the importance of the family home shrine.

A view of the crowd just in front of the Mandapam.

Everyone is listening attentively to Bodhinatha's message.

Bodhinatha reminds every member of the family to worship in the home shrine daily.

A couple from the south of the island. They have barely missed a homa ceremony at the Park and are happy to start year 2010 with the Blessings of Lord Ganapati.

Around our private car park for members and students, the breadfruit tree laden with fruits give a wonderful shade.

Two very young ladies are playing there after the ceremony. They are so happy to be at such an uplifting place.

Archives are now available through 2001. Light colored days have no posts. 1998-2001 coming later.
