Sun One Begins New Phase
Amey Deosthali family is visiting from Dallas. They follow the Sri Vidya tradition and were planning to bring their guru, Shrigurudev Shriniwas Siddhacharya, to meet Bodhinatha also, however he couldn’t make it at the last minute.
The Sri Vidya tradition shares many similarities with Saiva Siddhanta and Dakshinamurti figures prominently, so tomorrow the family will enjoy visiting our big Dakshinamurti when they see Iraivan Temple tomorrow.
Today is the last day of Sadhu Paksha and energy is high at the Aadheenam as we look forward to starting a new season and the annual Maha Ardra Abhishekam for Lord Nataraja on Tiruvembavai day, the 21st which is also the first day of Pancha Ganapati.
This is also the last phase of the Dakshinayane period of the year and the winter solstice will see the sun moving North and days getting longer again.
Saiva Hindu Religion Class Field Trip
Our Saiva Hindu Religion (SHR) teaching program in Mauritius brought some real life experiences to these SHR students. The catalysts arranged a field trip to the seniors home at the Meenakshi Amman Koyil. Here are all the students.
A lovely painting of Goddess Meenakshi offering refuge to the elderly.
Today program was inspired by SHR catalysts Anand and Anandi (left)

Namaskar Swami Ji, hope all is well…
Quatre-Bornes, Mauritius SHR team consisting of Anand, Anandi and Nuckiren (and me, as a helper) followed up a lesson based on “Helping Elders” with a field trip.
We took the initiative to bring the students to Meenakshi Seniors Home do do some karma yoga.
Gifts were shared to the elderly by the kids and we sang a Ganesha song. We arranged food for their dinner.
The elderly were very happy, as well as the kids.
Ananda and Anandi conduct SHR class to students aged under 11, while Nuckiren teachers those 12 years old and up, (as for me, I’m a helper!)
Food was also served to the students…
Thanks…
Aum Sivaya. Jai Satguru!

Bodhinatha's Latest Upadesha: "Detachment from Experiences; Importance of Daily Vigil" (May 5, 2013)
All experiences are good experiences, necessary to get us here. Awareness of aspects of ourselves that are constantly changing is a liberating perception, breaking our chains to mundane areas, detaching from instinctive and intellectual to go into superconscious. The greatest challenge facing youth today is the lack of relating to the devotional side of Hinduism. Daily practice, daily vigil, moves us forward spiritually. Commentary on Merging with Siva, The Master Course, Lesson 21.
