New Phase and Tour Day

We began a new phase today. It was also tour day and Bodhinatha signed a number of books in the minimela.

Our day began with homa.

Bodhinatha gave a marvelous upadesha today on the importance of realizing that to attain moksha we must resolve all our karmas, and that this means we need to work with life as it comes to us, including our mistakes and not simply wish that everything were quiet so we can meditate.

Kauai Highschool Class of '57 tour

April 22nd we were visited by the graduating class of 1957 from Kauai High School. Many of them still reside on the island, yet most had never been to the Hindu Temple. They enjoyed experiencing the peace of the Temple grounds, were very interested in the plants and asked about the Buddhist – Hindu connection. Many fondly remembered dining at the restaurant that was part of "Tropical Inn" back in the 60s. As with many visitors, they were enthralled with the beauty of the intricate carvings of Iraivan Temple and the magnificence of this project coming up on their island home.

Golden Gate Mission on the Job

Lata Sri Ram organized a two-day music concert called Pallavika in San Ramon, California. Deva Rajan, Shivani Rajan and Kanda Alahan set up an Iraivan booth in the lobby. These are pictures of some of the volunteers who staffed the booth for the weekend.
