Bodhinatha in Guyana and St. Lucia

Bodhinatha sends us some news briefs for last two days of his travels:

August 24th, Tuesday

Om Sivaya, everyone,

Jai Ganapati.

We spent our day in the country of Guyana here in South America. Lots of driving in the morning to and from Tain Berbicie, two hours each direction. I gave a Keynote presentation to about 200 students at a youth camp, plus a number of adults. Questions and answers afterwards came mainly from the adults present.

The evening’s first event was a TV interview, followed by dinner and a presentation to 100 plus in a room at the convention center. Many in attendance were executive members of the Guyana Hindu Dharma Sabha.

August 25, Wednesday

We left Guyana and flew to St. Lucia. We were lovingly hosted by the Fremont and Toshadevi Nataraja family, complete with satsang at their home in the evening. Lots of individuals from a local satsang group and their friends came and expressed appreciation for the event afterwards.

Here is some really wonderful news. The prestigious Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha affirmed that they will order 500 copies each quarter of Hinduism Today as a start — an excellent breakthrough.

Om,
Bodhinatha

Lotus from Big Island

Hitesvara Saravan gets up early every morning and transcribes Bodhinatha’s and Gurudeva talks. Thanks to him we are able to bring you Bodhinatha’s talks and transcripts together. He lives on the Big Island and on the lava flow gravel land of his small estate he does magical things with plants. Here a photo of a lotus from his garden.

Bodhinatha in Guyana- Berbice Youth Camp

Bodhinatha also went to a Hindu Youth Camp in Guyana held at Berbice.

The youth were performing Raksha Bandan…the young ladies tie a rahki thread around the wrist of their brothers.

Wiki pedia says:

“The festival is marked by the tying of a rakhi, or holy thread, by the sister on the wrist of her brother. The brother in return offers a gift to his sister and vows to look after her as she presents sweets to her brother. The brother and sister traditionally feed one another sweets.

“It is not necessary that the rakhi be given only to a blood brother; any male can be “adopted” as a brother by tying a rakhi on the person, irrespective of whether he is a cousin or a good friend. Indian history is replete with women asking for protection, through rakhi, from men who were not their brothers, nor Hindus themselves.”

Bodhinatha give a rousing talk to the youth.

Bodhinatha receives his rakhi.

Bodhinatha Meets with Guyana Hindu Dharma Sabha

Bodhinatha and Shanmuganathaswami with Dharma Kendra directors of the Guyana Hindu Dharma Sabha, a national body representing the Hindu community in Guyana. They have gathered to hear Bodhinatha speak to them.

Here, Jai Seecharran urges them to subscribe to Hinduism Today. It worked. They will be doing just that.
