Bodhinatha’s Singapore Adventures
Bodhinatha and Shanmuganathaswami arrived safely in Singapore on May 23 after 24 hours of travel. Their multi-purpose visit to Asia is focusing on meeting with members, students and business associates. Here they are reviewing a memorandum of understanding for printing Hinduism Today in India.
The afternoon adventures included visiting the 340m-long Marina Bay Sands SkyPark, a "ship" set on three 55 story towers on top of the world's largest public cantilevered platform, which overhangs the north tower by 67m. Unreliable sources told us its secondary purpose is to act as a life-boat when the giant waves come to Singapore during the end-of-the-world disaster in late 2012.
The Marina Bay Sands is located next to the Singapore Flyer. Bodhinatha, Shanmuganathaswami and the Singapore devotees rode this, the world's largest, most gigantic ferris wheel last year…
The photos above were taken aboard the "Duck Tours," a small fleet of amphibious boats which tour the streets of Singapore as well as the Marina Bay. The Singapore Mission members and students, who, you may guess, live in Singapore, had never been on the "Duck Tours" or visited the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark. They always look forward to these outings with Bodhinatha where they can be close to the Satguru for a few hours. From left to right, Dohadeva, Raman, Suselah, Nagavathy, Sivakumar, Easan, Shanmuganathaswami, Satguru Bodhinatha, Krishna, Sakuntalai, Sudha, Gopinath, Thivaashenee, Kasturi, Amar, Lavanya, Shanta Devi and Vasaant.
On top of the SkyPark, Bodhinatha surveys the spectacular, panoramic view of Singapore.
These are two opera houses being built below. They are designed to look like giant turtles basking in the sun on the beach.
Shanmuganathaswami meets up with his milking apprentice, Vasaant, who recently returned to Singapore after five weeks of task force at the monastery. No cows up here. But look! There are turtles below.
The night view is breath-taking with the beautiful lights of the city below. Mother Nature was also giving a lightning and thunder show off in the distance to show her happiness and appreciation in having Bodhinatha visiting Singapore. Coming up… the Malaysia adventures.
Anjali Sundaram’s Vegetarian Vrata ceremony
Anjali Sundaram read her vegetarian vrata vow at the Shiva Murugan Temple in Concord on Thursday. The GGM ladies were happy to witness the event and we all got together at Savitri Palani's residence for lunch. Asha Alahan came up with a great gift for Anjali. It was a box filled with spices and a curry leaf plant that was blessed at the temple. Congratulations, Anjali.

Bodhinatha's Latest Upadesha: "Detachment from Experiences; Importance of Daily Vigil" (May 5, 2013)
All experiences are good experiences, necessary to get us here. Awareness of aspects of ourselves that are constantly changing is a liberating perception, breaking our chains to mundane areas, detaching from instinctive and intellectual to go into superconscious. The greatest challenge facing youth today is the lack of relating to the devotional side of Hinduism. Daily practice, daily vigil, moves us forward spiritually. Commentary on Merging with Siva, The Master Course, Lesson 21.
