Mauritius Guru Purnima 2011-Part 1

Hail to the Siva Guru!

Guru Purnima was celebrated with deep devotion at the Spiritual Park of Mauritius on July 14th Thursday evening.

Our Scriptures say that on Guru Purnima, Satgurus dispel the darkness of ignorance by bringing forth wisdom and illumination

After a few Natchintanai songs, a silent pada puja followed…

Despite the unusually cold wind blowing on that evening, the Mandapam was packed to capacity by sishyas and MC students who travelled from the various regions of the island.

Everyone mind’s was focussed on the Guru…

Our Scriptures proclaim:

“More valuable than gold, and far more rare is a Satguru, knower of spiritual truths”

From left, Kulapati Koothan, Kulapati Kulagan, Kulapati Arnasalon and sishya Prakash Gunesh

On this special day all one’s thoughts are focussed on the holy preceptor, tuning into his mind, meditating on his teachings and expressing gratitude for his Blessings and advice.

Kulapati SK Moorghen (in black overcoat) and Kulapati Valayten on his left, and Sishya Paramasiven Canagasaby in front.

“A Guru is the devotee’s best friend, a father and a mother, a trusted confident a demanding mentor and guide on the path to God.”

“A Guru is the devotee’s best friend, a father and a mother, a trusted confident a demanding mentor and guide on the path to God”.

Arati to the sacred Tiruvadi after the chanting of Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami’s 108 names.

According to tradition, God’s presence can be most felt in the illumined Satguru. To sit at his Feet is to be close to God and our deepest self.

All nerve currents terminate in the feet. Vital energy points relating to every organ of his physical and inner bodies -astral, mental and soul-are there.

Touch the Feet and we touch the Spiritual Master.

Venerating the Feet of the Guru is also an acknowledgement of our deep respect and our knowledge that by following his footsteps we will attain spiritual perfection.

More photos of this ceremony will be posted on next TAKA. Stay tuned. Aum….
