Martin Luther King Day Team

Some better photos arrived from the Martin Luther King Day team representing the Hindu group of the Interfaith Round Table of Kauai that organizes this event each year.

Kulapati Vel Alahan spoke on ahimsa and the relationship between Gandhi and Martin Luther King and sharing Gurudeva’s message that non-violence starts with ending the war in the home, putting an end to domestic violence.

Tour Day

Stepping onto sacred ground at Kauai’s Hindu Monastery during the public tour day each phase is becoming a “must see” for many island visitors.

Vel Alahan is helping out today with the tour and shows the guests the white, red and black granite portions of the temple.

A real treasure for the eyes, as the monks have unpacked the black granite bell. This will be hung from one of Iraivan’s structural ceiling beams just to the right after entering through the Rajagopuram. Devotees can reach up and hit it (on the inside) with a wooden mallet. It will have an amazingly sharp bell sound!

Guests can continue their introduction to Hinduism through many books available in our “Mini Mela”. Bodhinatha graciously takes a special seat after the tour if he is not traveling and signs personally their selections.

This is the blessing that “keeps on giving”.

Siva as the Revealer

Amsterdam artist Pieter Veltevrede sent the fifth of the Sadasiva series of canvases yesterday. Here is Palaniswami's note responding to Pieter's request for a reaction: Aloha, Pieter! Isana has a dimensionality that I love, sitting there in space-akasha. You have so poetically captured the profound insight about microcosm and macrocosm, the there is Infinite Galactic space virtually the same size as Sub Atomic space. Our Gurudeva taught that the microcosmic inner space is actually larger than the macrocosmic outer space, and that seems to be one of the songs your art sings here. And the ethereal lotus-that's my WOW! for this one, the petals of space dust and light, a celestial flower extending to the edge of existence.
