Nataraja's Nilayam Opens Today
The old kitchen of Kauai Aadheenam had parts and pieces going back to the 40's and 50's when the estate here was built. After living here since 1969, it was badly deteriorated. Four months ago, Sivanathaswami began a process to renovate the kitchen by hiring a professional designer to design the interior. The plan was not only to clean up and refurbish, but to radically transform the space into a more useful, user friendly kitchen. And the goal was achieved in four months. As Kulapati Deva Rajan remarked today: "It's amazing to see how many work spaces there are now." Indeed, eight or nine people could now work together here.

I just wanted to write and alert everyone, to the pictures…of the old kitchen…it speaks volumes of the selfless monks they are..
Everything is given for upliftment of devotees…and very little, is there for their comfort.

Jai Ganesha! With the old version of the kitchen could imagine how easy it was for tunes flow out and ride along the path of the fragrance of the food as it was being prepared. Now, I cracked myself up thinking of how the monks are going to need duct-tape to keep the kitchen quiet while working. I was laughing at the thought of puffed up cheeks as the songs were trying to escape through the mesh. Such a lovely space and a heart-melting photo #4!
