Moola Mantra Ganapati Homa

A Moola Mantra Ganapati Homa was held on the 8th of April, 2017 at Sri Selva Vinayagar Temple, Klang, Malaysia. This Homa was a special request by Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami who also presided the event. Coordinated by Saiva Siddhanta Church's Malaysia Mission, the event was sponsored by both Kauai Aadheenam and the Sree Selva Vinayagar Temple.

Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami and Shanmuganathaswami were lovingly welcomed by the temple's chief priest and hundreds of devotees. They were both paraded around the temple before being seated in front of the Homa Kundam (homa pit). The beautiful Homa Kundam was specially constructed for this event with red bricks which were mortared and plastered with turmeric paste.

During the Homa, devotees were guided to do Kara Nyasa and Anga Nyasa (Purification Rites), followed by chanting of Ganesha's Moola (Root) Mantra, 1,008 times. The objective, according to chief priest Siva Sri Yogeswara Sivachariyar, is to invoke Lord Ganesha within our own body, thus with His presence we walk the path of Dharma, achieving Buddhi and Siddhi.

Various sacred substances were offered into the homa pit; the fire being Lord Ganesha and His Ganas receiving the sacred substances. Fruits, 108 lotus flowers, piles of durva grass, herbs, grains, ghee and royal clothing etc were offered to Lord Ganesha via the roaring homa flame.

More than 400 devotees attended the homa, filling the temple to capacity.

The Homa was conducted by a total of 7 priests.
Head Priest is Sivagama Ratnam, Sri Vidya Ganapati Upasagar, Esana Sivam R. Yogeswara Sivachariyar. He is also the President of Malaysia Hindu Foundation.
He was assisted by Sivasri Nandakumar Gurukal, Muthukumar Gurukal, Kalaiselvam Archakar, and Viswanathan Archakar. Vedic chants for the Homa was sung by Venkadesa Shastri from Tanjavur, Tamil Nadu and Kannan Shastri from Sri Mahamariamman Temple, KL

After the Homa, Devaram and Natchintanai were sung by the mission children. Bodhinatha honored the temple president Mr. NT Raaman and all the priests who conducted the Homa. He also launched and blessed the "9 Beliefs of Hinduism" poster project headed by Dr.Maruthu Dharmalingam. The posters, in tamil and english (A1 sized) which were later mounted at the entrance of the rajagopuram as well as A4 sized brochures (for distribution to devotees) were donated to the temple.

Satguru Bodhinatha blessed all the devotees who were also given gifts of Know Thyself' and Yoga's forgotten foundation' books. The event was concluded with a sumptuous vegetarian lunch.

It was a rare event, where devotees were soaked by blessings of Ganesha and Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami. Jai Ganesha. Jai Satguru.
