The study programs of Kauai's Hindu Monastery are conducted under the banner of Himalayan Academy. Founded by Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami (1927-2001, affectionately known as Gurudeva), and guided by his successor, Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami, the Academy offers study of The Master Course trilogy of books, annual teaching and worship events on Kauai on the occasion of Gurudeva's mahasamadhi anniversary in October/November, and periodic Innersearch Travel-Study Programs. Academy activities have catalyzed life-changing spiritual experience for seekers in many nations since its founding in 1957.
The Master Course
The Master Course is Gurudeva's all-encompassing 3,000-page trilogy exploring all aspects of life from the perspective of Saivite Hinduism. These three make up a mystical study to be explored daily, 365 days a year. You can read and study the daily lessons in three ways: 1) Internet Study, on the web or via e-mail; 2) Home Study, reading the books daily at home; 3) Home Study plus self-evaluation worksheets.
Annual Gurudeva Mahasamadhi gathering
For devotees and anyone who enjoys Gurudeva's teachings, each year in October/November we conduct four days of special worship and seminar activities on the occasion of Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami's mahasamadhi anniversary.
