The spirit of the day is the working together of the family kutumbas, the extended families. Gurudeva spoke of how we share the burdens, the joys and the karmas together. The group helps the individual and the individual helps the group. Gurudeva read from the Vedas:

"The seer sees not death,

nor sickness, nor any distress.

The seer sees only the All,

obtains the All entirely."
