Today we had two pilgrims from Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. and Usha Mahisekar. Laxminarayan is one of the trustees, a joint treasurer of the Rama Temple in Lemont, Illinois. Usha was part of the beginnings of the Hindu Sunday school at the temple and continues on there as a regular teaching helping to educate the youth. She says there are about 175 children who come to the temple attending about 15 different classes that go on throughout the day.

Officially known as the Hindu temple of Great Chicago, the Rama Temple was started in the 80's with Gurudeva's help when he sent a large Ganesha there which started the worship. Laxminarayan says the temple now has the largest congregation of all Hindu temples in America. On major festivals as many as 5,000 devotees will come. They are now working to raise funds for a giant Kalyan Mandapam: 2.5 million dollars. If you are interested in finding more about the activities you can email Usha at umahisekar@aol.com .
