Retreat day note from the webmaster's assistant:
The monastery is closed today but several families have just arrived on the island and Gurudeva thought we should have a party. So we went out to breakfast together. Gurudeva made several very interesting announcements, including the new coconut tree endowment. Then we all went to visit a house that one of our church families might purchase.

And now, back to the monk's message:
Since we are working on the inside of ourselves and don't have much outer news, we thought you might enjoy a photo of a lovely orchid. It's growing on a giant mango tree, at shoulder height, about twenty feet from the door to the Hinduism Today editorial offices. It just bloomed a few days back. It is a fragrant variety, and morning and night it fills the air with a most intoxicating smell!
