The spirit of the day is to be faithful to our commitments, to do what we say we will do, to fulfill promises, to be strong enough to follow the path with firmness of action, never delaying, never excusing ourselves, never going back on our word and disappoionting others, especially the Guru, by our actions. Gurudeva read from the Vedas:

"By austerity, goodness is obtained.

From goodness, understanding is reached.

From understanding, the Self is obtained,

and he who obtains the Self

is freed from the cycle of birth and death."
