It's Sun 5 at Kauai's Hindu monastery.
Today is visitors' day at the monastery,
and we have a special soul who traveled all
the way from Kerala, India.
His purpose is to present an award
to Gurudeva, who was elected "THE HINDU VOICE
OF THE CENTURY" by the Kerela VHP.
Tonight is also Gurudeva's monthly meeting with the leaders
of Kauai to chart a vision of the island.
Jai Ganesha! The monastgery welcomed the arrival of Madhavan Sivaraman Chandrababu of the Dr.Hehneman's Medical Center in Wayanad, Kerela, South India. He is vice president of the Vishva Hindu Parishad in Kerela, and a long-time devotgee of Gurudeva. He flew to Kauai today to present Gurudeva with a wonderful series of gifts from India. These were presented to Gurudeva this morning aftger the puja. The first that you see here is an elaborate cistern that is used in temples by filling it with sand or vibuthi and placing a sugarcane flower in the sand.
He also gave Gurudeva this sandalwood carved statue of himself, made by the orphans of India.
Our honored visitor was presenting our beloved Gurudeva with a much-deserved honor, the "Hindu Voice of the Century" award. He was sent all this way to offer these gifts and honors at our Satguru's feet, and it was a sweet and loving presentation. You can see in the photo some of the items various admirers sent, shawls, incense holders, hand-made boxes and sacred objects.
We promised to show you photos of the high-tech time capsule that was just shipped to Kauai from California yesterday. It is a 500 pound stainless steel canister. It was sponsored by Deva and Gayatri Rajan of Canyon, California.
The top here when unbolted weight 100 plounds. The capsule was contrructed to our specifications by a specialty company, and is meant to hold argon gas at 10,000 psi without failure. The system for making it is quite elaborate, and required special chrome to be imported from South Africa. It has special valves and is made to be installed in a fiberglass sleeve within the foundation of the Island Temple, containing the sacred teachings and artifacts of our lineage. It will be opened 1000 years from now, to preserve the culture and deep mysticism that built the temple for future generations, just in case they lose track of it by then.
Important notice: Many of you don't yet know that each day Gurudeva is recording a new and delightful MERGING WITH SIVA lesson. You can find this each day under the LESSON OF THE DAY button. go there and click on the audio track! Wow! it even has the text you can follow, or print out, or send to a friend if it is particularly relevant. We encourage everyone to go to this new audio lesson.
