WONDERING IF THEY WILL THEN LET UP ON THE HINDUS??
VATICAN CITY

(Reuters) - Vatican theologians have finished the draft of a major document in which the Catholic Church will officially ask forgiveness for its past errors, possibly including the Inquisition and its treatment of Jews.

The Vatican said its International Theological Commission would meet next month to work on a document "on the relationship between the Church and the errors of the past." The theologians will review a working draft of a document ordered by Pope John Paul, who wants the Church of nearly one billion members to seek forgiveness for the past as part of celebrations marking the millennium. The working draft, currently 35 pages, was prepared by a subcommittee and will be presented to the theological commission for discussion in Rome from September 28 to October 3. In the document, the Church is expected to ask forgiveness for past errors, including contempt for Jews and heretics. The 2000 celebrations begin on December 24, 1999, and end on January 6, 2001. It was not clear when the document would be issued.

HOT MASALA READER SHARES A BIT OF HUMOR

A seeker of enlightenment is in India walking down a street. He passes a roti vendor who says, "What would you like, sir?" The seeker says, "please, make me one with everything." The vendor immediately makes him a roti with masala potatos, onions, everything else inside. "That will be 6 rupees please."

The seeker gives him a 10 rupee note, which the vendor takes and puts in his cash box and smiles.

"What about my change?," says the seeker.

The vendor, who had sized up his customer, smiles and says, "Ah kind sir, you must know that true change comes from within."

APPRECIATION FOR SILPI INTERVIEW AND TESTIMONY FROM THE TEMPLE SITE

It is so inspiring to read the comments from the stone carvers.... I remember being at the carving site, with Gurudeva and a group of pilgrims from other parts of the world, as we stopped for a day (India Pilgrimage 1995-1996). The stone carvers and their families were given the day off so that we, the visitors, could be shown all the work on the Iraivan Temple in progress. After a grand tour all over the grounds, we paused to wait for lunch. The tall visitors from America, Canada and Europe sat together with the stone carvers and their families and sang Nachintanai. I saw tears in their eyes. I saw these strong men openly weep. For that Divine moment in time we were One Race, the Human Race. We were One Caste, all builders of this dream temple, each in our own way. For that one moment we all spoke the same language, the language of Love and togetherness. We are ordinary people brought together by an extraordinary vision known as the Iraivan Temple. A lucky privilege for one and all.
