Here Gurudeva is meeting with the Ekadanta Kulam, working on the karmas of the day in the Mahogany Room.

New! Satguru Speaks Again!

Today's Cybertalk: Sin & Guilt. Do you need to hear this? Does the mere mention of the word "guilt" make you cringe just a little? Then you better listen....Gurudeva begins his new talk on this touchy subject by speaking of the sins a husband makes. These are made largely when he shirks his responsibilities to his family. What are these responsibilities? Listen. Gurudeva also speaks of the patterns and consequences of the breaking up of families.

Our Cyclone printer left the monastery today. Chris Sanborn came early, dismantled this complex system which included a color copier/printer, a 36-inch color plotter for BIG poster work and a UNIX workstation that drives the aparatus. In its place we have smaller, less expensive printers, Epson 3000s, which are distributed throughout the monastery, so monks donÍt have to carry their printed pages through the tropical rains.

Our special visitor today is the Venerable Samu Sunim, the president of the Buddhist Society for Compassionate Wisdom , with branches in Canada, Mexico, Chicago and elsewhere. His is a Korean Buddhist tradition, and he himself is based in Chicago and Toronto.

Thondunatha with our priest and his assistant.

Today we also worked out some important details with our printer in New Delhi. They are moving forward with the full color edition of the Tirukural in India. The goal is to have this remarkable book, which has a first-ever modern Tamil translation alongside the original Tamil and our own American English version. This book by our Gurudeva will be featured at the opening of the Tiruvalluvar Statue on January 1st, the first day of the next millennium. It requires a lot of careful coordination between Kauai and India to bring this all together, as you can imagine! Gurudeva was invited to attend, due to his many years of support for the Kural, but has asked some of the Church elders in India to attend on his behalf. Stay tuned to Hinduism Today for a full story on this important event.
