Siva above us. Siva below us. Siva before us. Siva behind us. Siva to the left of us. Siva to the right of us. Siva outside us. Siva within us. How Great is such an ever-present One?

Gurudeva is working on his Shum language this morning.

New! Satguru Speaks Again!

Today's Cybertalk: Gurudeva gives part 2 and the conclusion of his observations on Sacrifice. He tells us a little about Iraivan temple, and as an example of sacrifice, Gurudeva tells us how the Hindu community in Neasden, UK, built the maginificent Swaminarayana Mandir there.

He is working today with Acharya Kumarswami, designing new symbols for the sounds of Shum, the 36 new sounds that came though when he was in Ascona, Switzerland a couple of years back. Stay tuned to TAKA and we will show you some of these.

Our family members participated in the Kauai Walk-a-Thon this morning to raise funds on the island. This is an annual fundraising effort in our community sponsored by the the Kauai United Way group. Fifty-percent of what is raised goes to the project to be supported and the other half to United Way.

In the photo members are presenting the proceeds to Acharya Ceyonswami in the temple. Yoganatha, with the colorful shirt and big smile, is offering it on a tray, while his mother Bhavani (in the purple sari) looks on with Dhavala in white and Peshanidevi in teal. Thanks everyone!

Thondunathan is there thinking, "I'd walk a mile for a Tamil!"

Here is the check surrounded by silk and flowers. It is a donation to Iraivan Temple.

Today we received an interesting email from a reader of Hinduism Today, with this photo enclosed. It is our very onw Saiva Siddhanta Church family who live in Chennai, India, and they appeared on the front cover of the monthly Anantha Vikathan magazine. They were interviewed about their spiritual life and their adoption of South Indian culture and faith. We are very proud of them.

Durvasa Alahan is on the lower right, and his wife Isani in front. daughters from left to right are: Priya, Neesha and Sitara.

I asked them to send me a brief explanation for TAKA and this is what we received this morning from india:

Aum Namsivaya, Gurudeva Prostrations to your Divine Effulgent Light.

In the past week our family has been featured in an interview in the magazine section of the Hindu on Monday. We have had three requests for interviews since. We didn't realize what an intrest would manifest.

My husband agreed to an interview with a Tamil magazine that was recommended by our landlords, but we have decided that it will be the last.

The photographer took a roll of film of us standing in different positions together as a family, and the journalist, J. Dayamalar followed by asking us questions for at least an hour. She spoke English well, but our dialect was difficult for her to follow. We will ask to read the article before it is printed.

When asked why we follow Tamil culture of course the answer is because of our Satguru's influence in our lives. We gave her a list of your books which she noted including the latest translation of the Tirukural. I don't know which publication the article will appear in, but it was for the Vikatan Group, Vasan Publications Ltd.e-mail: editor@vikatan.com, web page: www.vikatan.com.

That's Shanti, our cat named Peace, with Palaniswami and Japendranatha in the Ganapati Kulam this morning, conspiring to finalize Gurudeva's Jayanthi gifts from the monks.

Shhh! Don't let the cat out of the bag, Shanti.

As we near the MILLENNIUM which is a small moment in Hindu consciousness, we share with TAKA visitors a report from members in Singapore that nicely describes Gurudeva recent sojourn there:

GURUDEVA'S VISIT TO SINGAPORE I apologise for sending this report very late. Though it has been about a month now since Gurudeva's visit to Singapore, the memories are fresh in many minds. Below are the happenings of the third and final day of Gurudeva's visit to Singapore.

Naturally, we are would like to have Gurudeva near us forever. Therefore, knowing that Gurudeva will be flying of to Mauritius that day somewhat made a few of us sad. But the spiritual enthusiasm that Gurudeva sparked off in our hearts overwhelmed this sadness as the Church members made their way to the Sri Ruthra Kaliamman temple located at the Southern part of Singapore along Depot Road. This is a very elegant temple with shrines for Vinayagar, Sri Ruthra Kaliamman, Murugan and Shiva.

At about 10.00 am Gurudeva and the swamis arrived at the temple. Gurudeva was greeted with a padapuja. Next Gurudeva was ushered to the sanctum of Sri Ruthra Kaliamman and Sri Sivan where arati was performed. After this, there was a yoga demonstration by Yogi Balakrishnan's students. Yogi Bala has been very active in promoting yoga in Singapore and he has about 500 students. The students under him are very dedicated and enthusiastic about yoga. After the yoga demonstration, Gurudeva was ushered to a peedam set up infront of the reception hall. About 300 people were gathered at the hall eagerly waiting for Gurudeva's upadesh and darshan.

A short introduction to Gurudeva was given by Church member Umamaheswaran. As in the previous days, Gurudeva spoke about His works but Gurudeva paid a little more emphasis to the Lemurian Scrolls. Lemurian Scrolls as Gurudeva explained to us many times was a book He read rather than a book He wrote. Gurudeva also touched upon the significance of yoga.

As usual, the book station was set up at the hall selling most of Gurudeva's latest works. Merging with Siva, Dancing with Siva and Lemurian Scrolls were sold out. After Gurudeva's talk people formed 2 queues - one for seeking blessings from Gurudeva and the other to get Gurudeva's autograph. The program went very smoothly as the people approached Gurudeva in an orderly manner without jostling. After the book signing the devotees adjourned to the reception area where lunch was served by Yogi Bala's students. At about noon Gurudeva left the temple with his swamis.

At about 5.00 pm the Church members gathered at the Singapore Changi Airport to send-of Gurudeva. After the baggage were checked in, Gurudeva spent some time talking to the members and posed for a few pictures. The last three days had been hectic for Gurudeva as He met up with so many people and tirelessly signed hundreds of books. We were indeed very grateful to Gurudeva for His inspiring talks and encouragement.

Many of us who had personal problems felt as though the burden had been lifted by Gurudeva's darshan. But the time has come for Gurudeva to leave Singapore and we all wondered " when will we meet Gurudeva again". As Gurudeva stepped into the departure hall, the Church members waved and felt reassured by Gurudeva's smile which seem to say "Don't worry Gurudeva will always be with you".
