Markendeya Sendan arrived for a 3-day TaskForce time, during this year-end break from his college in San Francisco, California, where he is studying graphic design, computer design and business as part of an advertising career path.Today he is working on our newest CD, which will hold hundreds of our Ganeshas, collected over the years. Markendaya is holding the Aum CD designed by Ananta Palani last year, which will be used as a template for our Ganesha CD. Anyone out there have Ganesha's you want to share for this? Here is our slightly belated Panchagapati gift to all our loyal TAKA visitors and to newcomers too. Those of you who have been to Kauai know that this is a painting of the 6-foot-tall Siva Nataraja that graces our temple here and has been worshipped daily since 1973. In Indian culture, it is considered improper to photograph the deity in a temple. It's even considered a sacrilege in some places. So, what is done is that artists capture what the camera cannot, and posters are sold in little stalls for pilgrims to take home. Throughout India the great shrines have been depicted by one artist who for years would travel to a famous temple, sit in front of the sanctum for days and days at a time, painstakingly painting the murthy in precise beauty. This artist just happens to be our own A. Manivelu, who painted the lovely art in Gurudeva's Merging with Siva and other books and does art for our magazine regularly. So, we had him paint the Kadavul Hindu Temple sanctum this month, and it just arrived, a day late for Panchaganapati. The artist has captured the grace of our bronze so wonderfully. For a high-resolution version of this art, our present to you, just click below and save to your disc. You can then print it out or use it as a screen saver image. kadavulnataraja.gif Speaking of gifts! Here are three creative Aums lovingly made in Fimo clay by Darshani and Asha Alahan for Gurudeva and sent as a Panchaganapati gift. Nice work, Darshani! Today Gurudeva was asked to send blessings for an event in Singapore tonight, and thatks to digital technology it was possible. Here is the request and Gurudeva's response: Namaste! Humble Pranams. Geeta Jayanti is being celebrated in a grand manner in Singapore on 26th December 1999. It is probably the only event which is organised by and supported by all Hindu organisations in Singapore. This year the organising committee is being chaired by Mr K S Rajah (Senior Counsel). The entire Srimad Bhagavad Gita will be chanted from 9am onwards following Ganapati Homam. Alongside the chanting, a massive Homam will also be taking ur sadhana and your growth toward moksha, spiritual liberation from rebirth. Om Namasivaya! Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami 162nd Jagadacharya of the Nandinatha Sampradaya Mahasannidhinam of Kauai Aadheenam, Hawaii, USA place, in which devotees can perform the Yajna themselves at 12 Homa kundams. At the same time, a mini-exhibition on the various Satgurus who have blessed the Earth so far, will be put up at the event premises. We have already contacted Srimati (Mrs.) Dohadeva for a large poster of Satguru Subramuniyaswami. In addition, we would be honoured if the Satguru would send us a blessing message which will be read out at the end of the event after the Aarati. GURUDEVA: We here at Kauai Aadheenam, on this little island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, worship and work daily in harmony and complete dedication to bring to the Hindus of Singapore through our many publications the knowledge and information you need to know about the modern Hindu story of the just completed century and now on into the future of futures. It is with great pleasure that we announce to this most prestigious gathering that our global magazine, Hinduism Today, has just this week, after 21 years of uninterrupted publication, been upgraded to twice the size and will be a bi-monthly magazine. This has many advantages, experts tell us, one of which is that major stories can be longer and more information rich. Our team of journalists on every continent are more than ever eager to explore the depths of the renaissance that is happening dynamically among Hindus around the world. They know that more and more Hindus, such as those of you gathered here in Singapore at this event tonight, need to keep informed, so that today's generation and the ones to follow will eclipse ignorance and spread the Sanatana Dharma to all who are open and ready to listen, to live and pass on the Hindu dharma to the next generation, a system of thought, belief and attitude which is in our opinion the greatest religion in the world. Love and blessings to each and everyone present. And please know that "I love you, I really, really do - each and everyone of you," and send my choicest blessings to each and everyone here, that you may grow stronger and stronger each day in your love of God, in your sadhana and your growth toward moksha, spiritual liberation from rebirth.
