See a massive project through.
Just Arrived at Kauai Aadheenam!
Dancing with Siva has been translated into Tamil
by 86 year old Tiru A. V. Mylvaganam of Kopay, Sri
Lanka. For several years Mylavaganam, a long
standing Church member and devotee of Gurudeva,
would sit and read Dancing with Siva with the
elders of the village community of Kopay in
English. They would discuss the meaning of the
words and translate the slokas and bhashyas into
Tamil. Mylavaganam would write the translation on
scraps of paperŅanthing he could get his hands
such as school primers, letters from relatives,
backs of calendars etc. Only the slokas and
bhashyas and a few other parts of the book were
translated. The translation was sent to Kauai
Aadheenam and task forcer Rajkumar Manickam
carefully photocopied an enlarged version of the
various sizes of papers onto 8 1/2 by 11 sheets of
paper. Rajkumar went through both the English and
tamil translation and made notes about missing
pages etc. The photocopy and notes were sent to
Kulapati Appasamy Kuppusamy in Malaysia.
Kuppusamy typed from the hand written translation
into his computer using the Ananku Tamil font we
also use at the Aadheenam. At first Kuppusamy
said it would take him until Tamil new year 1999
to complete the typing, but as he progressed a
momentum began to build, and we received an
email saying he was making better progress than
he expected. He was inspired by his karma yoga,
and it would be complete by the end of 1998. Just
today a beautifully typed copy of the translation
arrived (see photo) along with the files on floppy
disk. We hope that soon it will be available on the
World Wide Web. Perhaps there will be those who
will come forward wanting to sponsor printing the
book. Congratulations to everyone involved
including Gurudeva, who inspired Mylvaganam, and
many thanks to him and to Rajkumar and Kulapati
Kuppusamy.
