"Debate
and
argument
are not
necessary."
--Siva Yogaswami
Deva Seyon says: "Our Sun 5 morning began with a beautiful Lord Muruga Puja performed by Sadhaka Thondunatha with his two assistants, Yoganathan Palani, age 11 and Toshadeva Palani, age 5.
Acharya Ceyonswami then gave a talk on the Agamas and the inconceivable depths of Saiva Siddhanta. It was a journey together into the science of reality and the countless worlds that take a soul from "I am a drop" to "I am the ocean! This is a small attempt to paraphrase just a little of His talk. We discovered that there are an infinite number of Agamas. They are all there - impressed into the akashic record based on the realizations of countless, literally countless Rishis and mystics over millions of years of evolution and enlightenment. The Kali Yuga has temporarily shut a door on this vast inner plane library, save for rare mystical readings now and then, but they are still there to be discovered and read again in the yugas to follow. The Agamas that exist today are the grace of Lord Siva in giving forth again a portion of what was lost as the darkness of the Kali Yuga descended.
The Agamas are the real science - the direct perception of what constitutes our reality and our evolution from the seemingly finite to the infinite - and these Rishis were the first scientists. Scientists today working under the limitations of darkness, use instruments to try and go deeper into the elements and atomic structure of reality, but it was these ancient Rishis who in profound and direct perception actually defined and recorded the organization of reality as it is. The image of countless enlightened souls diving into the structures of the phenomenal universe gave us a sense of staggering depth and detail.
As we listened to Acharya Ceyonswami, the true meaning of science and the merging of "the inner" and "the outer" began to seem very close. Acharya Ceyonswami actually gave us some insight into the way in which Lord Siva works within Maya and the self imposed limitations for working with embodied souls. It made Saiva fundamentals like - S'aktipata from a living Satguru is absolutely necessary to bring forth jnana - completely understandable.
As Acharya Ceyonswami unfolded the basics of Saiva Siddhanta He gave us a history lesson in the pada's and the reasons why temple proliferation and worship exists predominately in the South of India today in contrast to the more yoga, jnana pada's of the North and how important Gurudeva's mission was in bringing together the true balance in Suddha Saiva Siddhanta.
Acharya Ceyonswami went into the elements of maya, karma and anava in simple and penetrating ways. We discovered new dimensions and meaning in the practice of vasana daha tantra and the mystical meaning behind Gurudeva's statement "writing on water"!
