Cybertalk: June 11, 1999, Gurudeva invites you to write in and receive
52 daily sadhanas, a systematic study and practice drawn from his
newest book, Merging with Siva. He talks about the Innersearch Alaska
travel/study program which he and 40 devotees embark upon in a few
days. While Gurudeva is traveling for the next three weeks, there will
not be new talks here, and he encourages you to try this sadhana from
Merging with Siva: waking at just the right time each day by relying
not on an alarm clock, but on your subconcious mind.

Change Is in the Air
For all of those who faithfully tune in for Gurudeva daily message, there
are a few changes you may have noticed recently that we felt we should
explain. First of all, Gurudeva is now giving his message for TAKA once a
week instead of daily, every Sun 1 on our South Indian panchangam (lunar
astrological calendar which we follow at the monastery). For a list of Sun 1s
into the future, you can now check our improved calendar by clicking the
"Calendar & Bulletins" button above. Second, many of you know that
Gurudeva will be traveling to mainland USA on the Innersearch Alaska 1999
pilgrimage and study program from June 14 - July 5. During that time there
will be no new talks by Gurudeva here.
About the Options
RealAudio: RealAudio uses "streaming
download" technology and the file is small enough that the average
14.4k-28.8k modem user can begin listening right away as it downloads. The
quality is good, but not superior. To listen to the RealAudio file, you
will need RealPlayer. Click on the icon to the right to download
RealPlayer.

MPEG Layer 3 Audio:
The MPEG Layer 3 Audio (MP3) format is a burgeoning new standard for high
quality audio on the Internet.
MP3's
CD-quality sound is obviously much
clearer than RealAudio and WAV, but the file is significantly larger. This
option works best for those
with fast Internet connections or lots of patience. With some players,
such as Apple's
new QuickTime 4 Player, or the compact Sonique player for Windows,
you can even listen while it downloads (streaming). To
download
an MP3 player, click on your operating system:
Mac
or Windows.
(MP3 players for other platforms such as UNIX are also
available at the same website.) Click on the button to the right to download
QuickTime 4.
WAV:
Gurudeva's
weekly message is also provided in the Windows WAV format. This
option is not streaming, is significantly lower quality and about
two-thirds the size of MP3. Most Mac and Windows computers have the ability
to play WAV sound files without the need to download additional software.
