Today's audio clip from Gurudeva is about Friendship. You may look at friends differently after listening to Gurudeva's words. And by the way, at the request of two TAKA visitors, Gurudeva has said he is open to your questions once again, and will answer them during his TAKA talks each day. Please send your questions to palani@hindu.org.

Our first photo today is a morning meeting with Gurudeva in his Mahogany Room. Bodhinathaswami is on the far right and to his left are Palaniswami, Ceyonswami, Kumarswami and Shanmuganthaswami.

They are discussing our training school for young boys in India, and their future studies and preparations for life either as a monk or a family member.

Jai Ganesha, who guides us always along the right path!

This is a finely detailed marble Ganesha from India that sits in Gurudeva's office. The five-metal Sivalingam in front on the burl was made recently by a craftsman in India, who is doing some special metal work for Saiva Siddhanta Church. It was just brought back to Kauai by Bodhinathaswami.

Our pilgrim family is having a wonderful and serene sojourn on the Garden Island. Here they are on the porch of our giftshop, which we call the Mini Mela.

By the way, Gurudeva's talk today is about how friendship is different from acquaintences. Friends don't observe the same formalities with each other. There is an intimacy with them, without formality. Gurudeva goes on to discuss how relationship exist on many levels, spiritual, social, cultural, educationan and even financial. And we need affiliations on all these levels in order to have true friends.

Ah, Karma Yoga! Seva! Service!

Welcome to Lila Shakti Devi on the far left. She joins Vel and Valli Alahan in helping Thondunathan prepare for a Maha Mailing from San Marga supporters. Mahalo nui loa--to all three of you. This is a big help.

They say for Karma Yoga the doing is the reward. But Thondunatha makes sure there are other rewards as well.

Lunch in the Bangalore Gallery.
