It's Sun 3 today in the monastery, kind of our Wednesday, while it's Friday for the rest of the world (we think.)

This is Tejadeva with Gurudeva and that's a box of dried mangos he brought as a gift from Singapore. He arrived there from India and spent a few days with our members there, and came to Kauai yesterday afternoon. Tejadeva just completed an 8-month mission given him by Gurudeva, during which he lived in Bangalore, India, and took wonderful care of the young boys (ages 8 to 12) who are being trained there as future priests of Iraivan Temple. Tejadeva joined in the Sanskrit studies while there, too. Recently he took the boys on pilgrimage with bodhinathaswami and Saravananathaswami, traveling throughout Tamil Nadu to all the great Saiva temples, mostly by train. It was an arduous and joyous week for them all. You can see by his big smile, he is happy to be back to Kauai Aadheenam. And we are even happier to have him back!

Gurudeva's talk today is from Sun One when he said: "The most important thing in human relations is to keep the pranas flowing between people and people, and between people and groups...seek the true identity of yourself, which is that of a soul, and the Self is deep within that...How can one be a BIG PERSON on the inside? How can one be tolerant of other's faults rather than trying to correct them, to overlook the little things rather than tangling with them. There are enough small people in the world. We now need more people who are big on the inside of themselves.

New! Satguru Speaks Again!

"BIG PEOPLE, small people" Part 1 is today's talk from Gurudeva. He speaks on the qualities of the soul and the "little" realizations we have as we slowly come to terms with our perfection.

Here is Tejadeva again, touring around the Ganapati Kulam, and getting reacquainted with all the members of the publications team. He will soon (once he is rested up from his long trip) be going around to each of the kulam groups to serve with his brothers for a few weeks. This week he begins in the Pillaiyar Kulam, and will be working to help organize the upcoming Innersearch Caribbean program. The Pillaiyar Kulam is the department that takes care of all the travel, business, purchasing, publication sales and marketing, accounting, advertising in Hinduism Today and more. That's Sadhaka Haranandinatha standing to Tejadeva's right in the photo, a Pillaiyar Kulam veteran who takes great joy in helping new people find Gurudeva's wonderful books. Japendranatha is explaining that today he is working on the last touches of the Tirukural book to be published soon in New Delhi.

By the way, if you are planning to join Gurudeva for this 10-day spiritual adventure (March 25 to April 4), we just heard that the cruise cabins are disappearing fast and we need to confirm participation no later than December 23rd.

Each afternoon for the past couple of months Gurudeva has been working on his "Loving Ganesha" book. It is quite popular in the Barnes and Noble and Borders chains and all of them are sold, so it need to be reprinted.

Today Gurudeva approved the cover, shown here. The colors are different, and Gurudeva has fine-tuned his introduction and made some other changes.

The new art on the cover, seen here, is the work of S. Rajam, whom we spoke of a few days back on TAKA. In fact, all of the illustrations inside have also been redone, upgraded and added to. Gurudeva was sooo inspired last night when we read him the introduction that he thought all our TAKA visitors would like to share at least a paragraph:

"All the major religions of the world, including Hinduism, have established institutions and societies to research, remodel and remold their spiritual community to be of service to their people in the fast-moving technological age. In almost every country, the various sects of Hinduism have now created temples and institutions to bring their members closer to their religion, to make it applicable to their daily modern life. Hindus have realized that those who left the farms and village guilds, the paddy fields and orchards are moving into the factories and the offices as their countries industrialize. Therefore, every effort is being made by hundreds of thousands of Hindu religious leaders to remodel and remold the presentation of our great faith to compensate during this renaissance, to establish a new era, to circumference, master and reform the ailing people of the world. Every effort is being made to make Hinduism as vital and practical in this era as it has been in more rustic times, to bring back the truant members to our religion and to vivify the Gods, for so many have put them into exile."
