In fact, the only reason Hinduism doesn't have a formal Thanksgiving Day is that we give thanks every day for all the wonderful blessings that shower upon us from hour to hour, moment to moment. Who has the time to even count them all?
The little boy with Gurudeva this morning is Gurumayan. Hi! He brought his family to Kauai.
They are originally from Sri Lanka. Dr. Somesan first met Gurudeva when he was a small boy (so history repeats as his own son meets Gurudeva today). He has come to Gurudeva several times since. They have lived in Honolulu for the last year and are moving to Florida tonight. They came for the Satguru's blessings for this big change in their life, and to say Goodbye.
On Arumugaswami's left is Tiru Subramaniam, whose short biography was mentioned in yesterday's TAKA.
We interrupt this TAKA report to bring you a quote from Gurudeva, from March 1992, when confronted with some yet-to-be-fully-educated people:
"Yea, how intelligently they flaunt their ignorance!"
We do urge you to click on the talk today and listen to Gurudeva's Sun 5 upadesha, a talk regarding sacrifice and renunciation. According to Gurudeva, sacrifice and renunciation is an integral part of religion. Where there is sacrifice religion begins. Sacrifice means giving up time, money and some kind of pleasure for the sake of religious service or for a more profound personal spiritual development. As more and more people sacrifices time and money for Hinduism then it is slowly strengthened.
Gurudeva added that sacrifice is the spiritual force that makes progress in strengthening Hinduism and when there is religion then positive changes takes place that creates a healthy future for the this and the next generation. It is also vital to sustain the religion by bringing in priests, by building new temples, and to have a constant flow of spiritual leaders to uplift the community. All of this can only take place when there are souls who are willing to sacrifice and renounce. Listen to this wonderful talk in Satguru Speaks.
