Gurudeva spoke after the morning meditation. His talk today was on sin and guilt, described by him as "the world's least popular subjects."

But his description was riviting, and fascinating, going into the reasons human beings feel such feelings inside themselves and how to extirpate them, root them out of our lives.

New! Satguru Speaks Again!

Today's TAKA talk: Gurudeva's thought-provoking Talk on Darshan continues today with part 3.

Gurudeva continues to talk about religion and sacrifice. Gurudeva elucidates that religion does not only mean sacrificing time. It's more than that. It's feeling the darshan, the vibration of the Gods which is channeled by the traditional priests who opens up the inner world by performing many rituals using the sacred language of the Gods, Sanskrit. The magnetism which is created attracts the masses and uplifts and clears the mind and relieves the people who goes to the temple from the problems that they carry along. But if there are no priest traditionally trained then the vibrations are just not there because it is they who purifies and creates the right vibrations for the deity to come and bless the people. It is this that brings the people to the temple in the first place. And when there are more and more people who goes to temple that means a sea of religious revival is happening which is actually the rise of spirituality, the inner knowing of the soul that God exists in the inner worlds. We have never been alone and we will never be alone.

Thirtadeva, from Fiji, came to the morning talk and spoke with Gurudeva afterwards.

Members were there too. Here they are posing in front of the 108 Siva Tandavas...

It's guest day on Kauai, with dozens of delightful souls visiting the monastery. Here they stop for a moment near the drinking fountain and pose for our digital camera.

A surprise from Calcutta today. A package of seeds from a generous supporter and retired industrialist, Shri Dhar. In the past he has sent seeds of Golden Champa, Bilva, fragrant vines and dozens of exotics.

Today Shri Dhar gifted the monstery with some flowering trees from India (the big package at the top of his letter), camphor tree seeds (!) and a wild canna. He also sent a weed (itÍs true), seeds of what Hawaiians call Sleepy Grass. Turns out its roots are used for kidney stones and other kidney and urinary ailments....we didn't know that.

Mahalo nui loa--thatÍs our Hawaiian "thank you" to you, Shri Dhar. We hope your health returns soon.

Guests also came to the Guru Peedam for Guru darshana. They asked questions and heard the Satguru's responses from the point of view of Saiva Siddhanta.

Welcome here to: Sanjay and Reshma Krishna, Umesh Kalelkar, Charya and Sudha Kumari, Sarmistha Das, Elithe Kahn, Chittaranjan and Sasmita Ray.

This is today's art from Bali. It's Wayan Marya's version of the art that depicts the Lemurian Scrolls chapter 25. Here is the text that goes with it.

Kundalini, the primal force of man, is an extension of the force that comes from within the core of this planet deep within the Second and Third World. The kundalini of this planet is in two sections. One is an extension of the kundalini of other planets. The second is an extension of the Being of this planet. Where man situates his power within himself determines how he tunes into and is affected by this primal spiritual force. Only on those planets, called fire planets, that have great heat at their center can unfoldment proceed swiftly and naturally toward the ultimate destiny. During the Sat Siva Yuga, these rays, extending directly through the spine of man, will be intensified and alive, and humanity will awaken to the oneness of all and the Self within. During the Kali Yuga, these rays will be dormant in all but a few. Aum.

A second Bali artwork for today, since we are going on retreat tomorrow and we want to give you something to come back to tomorrow.

This is Wayan's illustration for Chapter 24 of Lemurian Scrolls which speaks of how the animals were treated in days of yore, giving us good guidelines on how we should approach animals today. Here is the relevant text:

In Dravidian times, the Deities were easily able to work through and contact monastics by using animals and plants as a vehicle. Lord Ganesha used fruits and vegetables that grew above the ground to transmit his darshan, providing wisdom and perfect timing, removing obstacles on the path. Lord Skanda worked through herbs and the milk of the goat to send His actinic rays of healing, psychic power and knowledge of interplanetary travel. Lord Siva used the cow to pour out the essence of Saivism and help clear conditions of the past. For these reasons, plants and animals were given the best of care, treated as the Deity Himself. This knowledge was carefully taught to newcomers. At milking time, mathavasis could be seen gathered around, brushing the cow, feeding her and chanting sacred mantras. Aum.

A close up of the canvas, showing some of the detail of dress, Balinese style. Nice work, Wayan!
