Guru Purnima Shots from Dr. Sundar's Fabulous New Landscape Format Hasselblad Camera
Dr. Sundar from Lancaster, California, who attended the Guru Purnima/Iraivan Foundation Concrete pour, sent us these very remarkable wide angle, landscape format photos from his new camera. We have never seen anything like this ever in our photographic history. Here Gurudeva and Swami Bua are paraded around the Path of the Nayanars which is a secluded section of the San Marga Outdoor sanctuary, meant for silent walking meditation and contemplation on the greatness of our saints. This wide angle really captures the feeling of area.
Evening class with one of the swamis happens every day at 6:00 PM. the subject changes with each swami and there is a long curriculum to help the young monks with their training. They were practicing writing Shum today. News from Gurudeva in Mauritius Sannyasin Shanmuganathaswami: Our hotel is La Plantation on the northwest coast of Mauritius. It is a brand new place on the calm, calm ocean. Fantastic, exotic place, indeed. We are on our way now to the dharmasala after downloading all our emails. We are able to get on the Web here, unlike Singapore. We saw the pictures we sent from Singapore and all of your pictures of the morning classes. We have lots of news but little time to tell it. Today is a very busy day. (next day, Saturday)
We have just finished the first big day. Talked with all church members several hours and toured the lands of the dharmasala. They are beautiful. The two swamis have done a wonderful job with all the church members and students helping. In the afternoon gave an hour to each of three Kutumba (extended families) here at the hotel and then a boat ride with members, students and friends of the Spiritual Park. More later - it is late. We are all well and rested. Love and blessing flowing to one and all. Aum
Back on Kauai, dawn arrives this morning with incredible brilliance and contrast in a rare dry air. What a light show as the Eastern sun slides up and the western shadows slide down! Underneath the banyon tree the low morning sun casts streaks of colors across what is usually dark and shaded during the day by overhead growth. Many wonderful guests today. . .here are our neighbors from across the street. Two Hare Krishna devotees from Maui. Seshan and Jiya Sarma, a cross-national couple. They just recently got married. He is a computer programmer, originally from Mumbai. She is a lawyer and also a reader of Gurudeva's books. From Washington DC, Sumant and Anjali Anand visiting Kauai. He works for Oracle. Afternoon exercise period with Sannyasin Saravananathaswami. Vicknesvaren on the bar bells. Another Dr. Sundar Hasselblad shot, highly auspicious as this is the very first truck of concrete that landed on the Iraivan Foundation. The entire Ganapati Kulam makes a presentation of all the publishing, Hinduism Today, audio/visual/art work that they do for Gurudeva. Then everyone gathers outside for a group shot. Swami Bua stands still strong at 110, a testimony to the efficacy of yoga and clean living. Another marvelous landscape shot on the Path of the Nayanars. Here Gurudeva bathes the Kannappa Lingam, which is a giant Narmada Lingam (nearly two feet tall) that is placed in an outdoor shrine where pilgrims can freely get water and offer personal worship. Thank you, Dr. Sundar for these beautiful photos! |
