SPECIAL NOTE: We have fixed the problem with the streaming MP3 sound files. Those of you who had problems listening to them for the past week may now listen to them again provided you do not upgrade to QuickTime 4.1.1 or later. We don't know if the problem also exists with QuickTime 4.1, so we recommend staying with QuickTime 4.0.3 or earlier for now. If you are hearing the sound files alright using the MP3 buttons on this page, don't change your setup. (All sound files for the last week that may have been problematic because of this problem have been fixed in the archives.)

She got five copies of Merging with Siva to give to her family and friends.

Our wonderful sevak Sheela Venkatakrishnan has been making a giant contribution by transcribing Gurudeva's talks, which you see posted everyday. We want to thank her for this service. She will be traveling soon to Bharat (India) to be with her family and to touch base with the Holy Land. Here is her photo and a short biographical note:

What can I say about myself? I am from Chennai, India. My husband's work brought us to the US in May last year. We are in New Jersey.

I have a varied career path. I have an M.Phil. degree in Physics and my first job in '84 was as a lecturer. In '86, after my marriage I switched streams to software development and training. In '93, I felt it was time for me to put something back into society. Decided to work, but not be employed. Just made myself available to whomever I could support in whatever they did, with whatever I had/could get! Found myself doing everything from editing a Physics book, to statistical analysis for a Ph. D thesis, to re-organizing the material for a consumer protection organization, to arranging lectures in the community, to organizing a public meeting to advocate good governance, to supporting the training and healing practice of an energy worker, to designing and managing the construction of our home in Chennai ...

I am still finding my feet here in the US. My husband and I never had any "US-plans", unlike almost everyone in software. In spite of that, if we are here today, there must be a greater purpose. In the meantime, I just go on living .... and loving every moment of it! If there is one resource that I have on hand, it is TIME. I am very fond of reading and having a 24-hour cable connection to the Web is such a BLESSING for me. It is how I found you!

I have listened to Gurudeva's talks, applied them to my life ... I am so fascinated by the daily lessons!! I will order "Merging with Siva" soon. In fact, I want to have ALL the books!!! I sometimes wonder if my thirst will ever be quenched!! "Endru thaniyum intha suthanthira dhagam?" --- applies to my thirst for liberation, for knowledge!

Our small but steady stream of pilgrims and visitors continues. Today, the Subramaniam family from Long Island, NY, who heard about our temple from their friends, dropped by.

Pilgrims from Honolulu who came with a religious intent... more news about them tomorrow.

Sadhaka Nilakantha was busy today helping Gurudeva prepare materials to give away at a special book signing by Gurudeva later today at the Vedic Astrology Conference which is being held on the island. Last night our monks performed a simple fire ceremony to open the event and Gurudeva gave an address to the group today (see the video).

THANK YOU, GURUDEVA

For those who have been touched spiritually by Gurudeva's work, his books, his guidance, his inspired life and example and even his website, the "Thank You, Gurudeva Fund" has been established within Hindu Heritage Endowment.

Proceeds from this fund last forever; they're not a one-time gift. So gifts to this fund have eternal gratitude built into them. They live on in perpetuity.

Each month Gurudeva receives the income from the fund to be used at his own discretion to promote his work and mission around the globe. He loves this, for he knows that it comes from all the good souls who have met him and studied with him, traveled with him or just talked with him over the years. A contribution to this fund is tax-deductible.

This page is updated every day at 5:30pm Hawaii Standard Time.
