OUr two pilgrims, Mr. and Mrs. Jogi and Annapurna Pattisappu from Orlando. Several years ago a friend of theirs gave them a copy of Dancing with Siva. Jogi is active in a new local temple starting in Orlando that has nearly 15 acres of land. Annapurna used to be aon the board of the temple. She also taught Sunday school at the Chinmaya Mission and used the A-Z section of the resources to teach the children. They became lifetime subscribers to Hinduism Today today and are on their way back to Florida with a renewed spirit.

In today's talk Gurudeva speaks on marriage and the tragedy of its dissolution. If you cannot listen to the audio file below, here is a summary one of the young monks wrote down for us:

Gurudeva talked about the similarity between bankruptcy and divorce. Firstly, Gurudeva said that in Hinduism once married one stays married throughout one's lifetime. Marriage is much akin to a business agreement. It involves money, purchasing, budget, entertaining, acquiring and so on.

If a man divorces his wife, it creates a rift between two families, friendships splits, children become losers, a division is created. If he keeps his family happy and strong, his business prospers year after year after year. When his business fails, the same happens as in a business failure, a division is created, business associates move in different directions, suppliers lose, employee suffer and thus karmas are created to be faced in the future.

Divorce is a bankruptcy of trust and relationship, something worth working very hard indeed to avoid.

Satguru Speaks

Cybertalk: Today Gurudeva concludes his answer to the question: "Is the Divorce of a Marriage like the Bankruptcy of a Business?" He explains that in both cases, everyone is the loser.

Our Brahmachari Kumar Tirunandi arrived in Bangalore. He will be living in India, having retired and completed all his personal preparations including long months spent in Germany where he was born. Welcome to Bangalore, Kumar! That's Jiva Rajasankara, our cerving site manager with him.....

Nestled among the many trees is the beautiful Panchamuka Ganapati Mandapam.

Our new spiritual park sign in lovely wood and brass. Thanks to donors in Singapore!

Jean Noel Pyndiah, our resident "wizard in wood" working on some furniture designed by Sivadevanathaswami. Jean Noel is a carpenter who specializes in the beams for unusual roofs. He has been instrumental in the building of the Panchamuka Ganapati Mandapam and much renovation of our monastery.

This is our local taxi driver, Benjamin alongside his new car. Because the monastery does not have a car at this time, Benjamin takes us on all our shopping and errand trips. He also does many errands for us at other times.

Siven Veerasamy started out doing karma yoga for the monastery and was so good that we finally hired him. Although his specialty is cement and block and rock work, he now does much of the maintenance on the grounds, watering and caring for all the plants. Profile of Ganapati in the background.

And, oh yes, the favorite of Ganesha, our beautiful "Maison Rouge" mangos which are prized among all mangos here in Mauritius for their sweetness.

THANK YOU, GURUDEVA!

For those who have been touched spiritually by Gurudeva's work, his books, his guidance, his inspired life and example and even his website, the "Thank You, Gurudeva Fund" has been established within Hindu Heritage Endowment.

Proceeds from this fund are forever, not a one-time gift, so gifts to this fund have an eternal gratitude built into them. They live on, in perpetuity.

Each month Gurudeva receives the income from the fund, to be used at his own discretion to promote his work and mission around the globe. He loves this, for he knows that it comes from all the good souls who have met him and studied with him, or traveled or just talked with him, over the years. A contribution to this fund is tax-deductible.
