A Big Day at Kauai's Hindu Monastery. It began after 5:30 AM Sivapuja and meditation and with a long and animated phone call to Toronto Canada where thousands of Tamil Hindus were gathered for a special ceremony. The talk was broadcast on live radio not only in Toronto and Montreal, but all around Canada, in two languages.

Here is Thondunathan displaying his amazing translator's art of putting Gurudeva's message into sweet and aptTamil.

Satguru Speaks

Today's Cybertalk: Gurudeva gave us an insightful and practical Caution to Healers in preparation for the large Healing Touch group that visited us today. In part 1 he introduces the principles of higher and lower natured people and relates this to the various chakras.

Gurudeva invited the young residents to be present for the talk, during which he spoke at length about how to bring peace to war-torn Sri Lanka, and the need to settle matters before this struggle becomes totally entrenched and becomes just a big business that no one can really imagine living without.

Yesterday we had a blessing in the new Vastra Veedu, "Home of Cloth," the sewing quarters where monks make their own clothing.

Gurudeva passes the camphor flame to bless the small altar in the two rooms.

Monks and taskforcers gathered outside as the ceremony begins.

Gurudeva breaks the traditional coconut at the entryway.

And to keep the not-so-good spirits at bay, a lime is cut and smeared with turmeric and throw off to the side, away from the building.

Today, even bigger news arrived at our front information office. At 9:00 am, over 100 professional doctors, nurses and healers from all over America came to visit the monastery.

They are part of a 500-member conference being held on Kauai this week, called Healing Touch.

They are learning and teaching how to heal without surgery, how to work with the energy fields of the body and nerve system, how to give energy to those who need it. But these are not flower children, they are medical pros. There are part of a big change in modern medicine which now formally recognizes this so-called alternative therapy.

The monks chanted a traditional welcome in Sanskrit, and then Sadhaka Thondunathan gave them a glimpse of life here.

They heard about our schedule and our disciplines, our ideals and spiritual lifestyle.

Then they all posed for our cameras so you could all share the visit from afar.

Tara Katir, our Kauai Kulamata on the right, hosts Savitri Kumaran, a professional midwife and a key leaders for the group. She is also the one person on Kauai responsible for making this a giantly successful event for the Healing Touch institution. Good work, Savitri!

Next the group spent some sacred time in Kadavul Hindu Temple where they encountered the world's largest crystal, there in the upper center of our photo.

They wrote some prayers to the devas too!

Then off to the grounds, where they stood transfixed by the lovely view of the Wailua River that flows through the monastery land.

At the Orchid Mandapam Saravananathaswami explained about writing down all our confusions, confessions and forgivenesses and then burning these in an "inauspicious" fire to release the emotions from past experiences. They all participated in this cleansing tantra.

The highlight of their morning was meeting with Gurudeva in the Peacock Courtyard.

Gurudeva took time to speak to them about healing arts, the Indian view, and especially about how they each had a great responsibility in awakening the powers of the higher chakras, and how important it is to never indulge in the emotion of anger if you are a healer. Anger can turn the positive energy into a dark and negative one, can actually hurt those you are trying to heal. he urged them to qualify healers who never give in to anger.

Then Gurudeva offered a shawl and special blessing to Sister Anna Maria, seen here, showering the Catholic nun with flowers. Tomorrow is her birthday.

Sister healed herself from a life threatening disease, and has embraced the life of Healing Touch ever since.

Gurudeva said he would sign books for those who wanted to take his teachings home with them and study the mystical works.

Books and books and books and books were signed. for over an hour he signed, and the healters took armsful of books with them, overjoyed to have met the author of Merging with Siva, which they knew of already since the Healing Touch Founder, Janet Mentgun, is herself studying the lessons!

And more books and more. What a wonderful moment with the author, and with so many pure souls intent on helping others as their path in life!

In fact, you may all want to take a moment today to listen to Gurudeva's talk showcased above. It's all about his remarkable, peerless legacy work, Merging with Siva, what he thinks of it and how he encourages us to approach and study the deep within of ourselves.

THANK YOU, GURUDEVA!

For those who have been touched spiritually by Gurudeva's work, his books, his guidance, his inspired life and example and even his website, the "Thank You, Gurudeva Fund" has been established within Hindu Heritage Endowment.

Proceeds from this fund are forever, not a one-time gift, so gifts to this fund have an eternal gratitude built into them. They live on, in perpetuity.

Each month Gurudeva receives the income from the fund, to be used at his own discretion to promote his work and mission around the globe. He loves this, for he knows that it comes from all the good souls who have met him and studied with him, or traveled or just talked with him, over the years. A contribution to this fund is tax-deductible.
