What a glorious day on Kauai it is! Who could believe it's the last day of January? Or that elsewhere in a wintery America people are digging their cars out of deep snow drifts? Thank you, Siva.

We open today with a short description of today's audio CyberTalk, available in the Satguru's sonorous voice by clicking below:

The question came about how to help a person during death. Gurudeva explained that it depends on the situation of the dying person. Souls who are helping loved ones prepare for that Great Departure are seldom in their intellectual mind where we reason things out or think about mathematics or science.

They are in the higher, intuitive mind and know when the soul is leaving the physical body or if they need to help to him prolong life.

Gurudeva spoke of the differences in Western and Eastern perspectives, and that each caretaker needs to follow his or her conscience in these matters, needs to act in ways that are faithful to his or her deepest beliefs. For those who are convinced about the truths of karma and reincarnation and take Vedic knowledge seriously, death and dying will not pose a grave problem. They will remain secure within and joyously let go of the world.

Gurudeva noted that his Saiva Siddhanta Church is unique. While others take people from birth to death, Saiva Siddhanta Church nurtures souls from birth to death and back to birth (referring to the fact that individuals have died in our Church and then been reborn to members, much like the Dalai Lama is born and later recognized as the same soul). This keeps the spiritual organization alive life after life after life.

Satguru Speaks

Cybertalk: Gurudeva answers another e-devotee's question today, this one from a doctor. It's about caring for those who are preparing to depart. When attending to a dying person, how do we know if we are interfering with their natural karmas or helping them through them? How do we know what kind of karma we are creating for ourself? This is a topical area of concern of many today. We all should know the answer....

One of our latest recruits to Lord Muruga's army, Sadhaka Mahadevan who recently took Sadhaka vows. Sadhaka has joined the team of the Ekadanta Kulam that serve to help Gurudeva with all the communications with his sishya a students.

Brahmachari Nanthakumaran served in the Lombodara Kulam for several weeks and learned to be quite a good cook! Now he is helping in the Ekadanata Kulam our Church membership and Himalayan Academy office.

He's always bright, eager and carries a joyful presence whereever he goes. He is a good example of the attitude of "Santosham" meaning, contentment, one of the "Yamas and Niyamas", a fundamental pre-requisite on the path of yoga.

Our current Siddhidata Kulam team with its Talaivar (coordinator), Yogi Yuganatha (second from the left) his right hand man, Sadhaka Nilakantha (second from the right) Brahmachari Panshula (on the right) and Brahmachari Vickneswaran on the left. Their numbers grow in the afternoon when the most of the other task forcers join them outside.

Each of the five kulams of our monastery are like a "miniature school of life." and young residents and taskforcers sometimes move from one to another, serving as needed, gaining a variety of skills along the way, from typing, data base entry, milking the cows, caring for the birds, digital scanning of art, proof reading, desktop publishing skils, making chutneys to leaning how to plant and care for a big garden.

Gurudeva meets with two of his swamis this morning, working on the karmas of the fellowship, on the many e-mails that come in daily from around the globe.

They also were editing a new addition to our website, a page that gives ways that people around the world can help. It's just started, but if you are wondering how you can support Gurudeva's many projects, you can visit the How Can I Help? page today.

    THANK YOU, GURUDEVA!

For those who have been touched spiritually by Gurudeva's work, his books, his guidance, his inspired life and example and even his website, the "Thank You, Gurudeva Fund" has been established within Hindu Heritage Endowment.

Proceeds from this fund are forever, not a one-time gift, so gifts to this fund have an eternal gratitude built into them. They live on, in perpetuity.

Each month Gurudeva receives the income from the fund, to be used at his own discretion to promote his work and mission around the globe. He loves this, for he knows that it comes from all the good souls who have met him and studied with him, or traveled or just talked with him, over the years. A contribution to this fund is tax-deductible.
