Title: Siva Lingam Worship
Category: God & Lords of Dharma

A cyberspace cadet from Finland asks, "Can you give us some instruction on worshipping the Sivalingam and how do I go about it?"

First thing you should do, if you have not already, acquire a copy of Dancing with Siva, Hinduism's Contemporary Catechism and another copy of Merging with Siva, Hinduism's Contemporary Metaphysics. To understand the Sivalingam you must understand yourself. It is your inner self you have to understand and your relationship to the divine, timeless, formless self within, the all-pervasive energy of Siva and manifest form. Then your worship will be effective and satisfying. Your life will begin to change and a glorious future awaits you.

We had two wonderful pilgrim families today from Concord, California. On the right is Dr. and Mrs. Bhatt and their three daughters and grandfather and grandmother visiting from Bangalore, India. Mr. Bhatt is a lifetime subscriber and has been attending the Palaniswami Sivan temple in Concord for many, many years. He remembers when the monks there were taking care of the temple when it was Gurudeva's Himalayan Academy branch on mainland, USA. Dr. Bhatt told us about a recent innovation in his hospital where meditation, packaged for western consumption, and anger management programs are being introduced to help heart patients in the healing process.

On the left is Mr. and Mrs. Shankar and their daughters. Mr. Shankar has known Gurudeva for many years. He owns the Shree Emporium store in Concord, California, where our monks used to go to purchase groceries years ago. There were all overjoyed to come and be with us again here on the tropical island of Kauai. Welcome, everyone!

News from Seattle:

Nitya Nadesan our photo journalist says:

"Gurudeva arrived in the evening of the 3rd in Seattle and was greeted by Jnana Sivananda, Diksha Kandar, Kumar Natarajan and son Dan, Ananta Sivam, Kriya Haran and myself. We took him to the hotel and await tomorrow's events in our town."

Today (July 4th) day he met everyone for lunch at Chutney's Indian Restaurant.

The owner of the restaurant Bill Khana opened the restaurant on the July 4th holiday solely to accomodate our group and was so happy to receive the blessings of our Gurudeva.

Diksha Kandar, a lifetime brahmachari living in Seattle, is very happy to see his Guru.

Sadhaka Thondunatha stands up to give everyone an update on the progress of the Iraivan Temple construction and news on next year's Innersearch Travel-Study Program to Europe and Russia.

Later that afternoon Gurudeva had a book signing at Barnes & Noble, 626 106th Ave, NE Bellevue.

In Seattle our main man and coordinator is Nitya Nadesan. Here Gurudeva meets with one of his neighbors: Joanne Cronin. Joanne is telling Gurudeva about her group the Global Renaissance Alliance renaissancealliance.org. This is a group whose goal is peace through spirituality. Gurudeva is asking Joanne for information for an article that may appear in Hinduism Today on the GRA.

Stay tuned tomorrow for more news on Gurudeva's journey to the Northwest and Canada.

A wonderful Filipino family who has lived on Kauai for 18 years, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Alquisalas, and friend, Vivian Parepe, who live in Lihue, came to visit. This was their first visit to the temple after many years. Here they pose beneath our giant Banyan tree.

Also today our friends from the local Thai restaurant, the King and I, came to the temple with two bags of mangos for the monks. Not ordinary mangoes, but unique varieties from their homeland, Thailand. Thank you for the thoughtfulness!

THANK YOU, GURUDEVA

For those who have been touched spiritually by Gurudeva's work, his books, his guidance, his inspired life and example and even his website, the "Thank You, Gurudeva Fund" has been established within Hindu Heritage Endowment.

Proceeds from this fund last forever; they're not a one-time gift. So gifts to this fund have eternal gratitude built into them. They live on in perpetuity.

Each month Gurudeva receives the income from the fund to be used at his own discretion to promote his work and mission around the globe. He loves this, for he knows that it comes from all the good souls who have met him and studied with him, traveled with him or just talked with him over the years. A contribution to this fund is tax-deductible.

This page is updated every day at 5:30pm Hawaii Standard Time.
