Title: Who is the "Doer" after Realization?
Category: Soul
Duration: 1 min., 57 seconds

Cybertalk: When the soul is young and just beginning, it thinks that it is the doer of all its deeds. After the realization of the Self, do we still feel that we do?

Title: Just a Way of Life
Category: Hinduism and Tradition

Young people are being told in the West (and possibly other places, too), that Hinduism is not really a religion, it's just a way of life.

Well, ignorance is equally distributed all around the world, and when we hear false information we should question the person that it has come from as to his motivation and inner feelings. A statement like that doesn't deserve an answer, just a smile. Change the subject and get on with life!

Back home here on Kauai: Brahmachari Gurudasanatha, who has been moving through our different monastic "kulams" (departments) is now in the publications department. Here he sits with our art director, Natarajnathaswami, who is working on some logo designs for a new project in which we are participating with island leaders, called the "Kauai Aloha Foundation."

Dewey Oliver and Vivian heard about the monastery from a friend who came with the "Healing Touch" group.

Work continues at the Iraivan temple site. On the south end of the temple where the land slopes down to the river, major "earthworks" are underway. Soon we will have a passage way from edge of the Wailua river up the hill to the temple. Pilgrims will be able to have a similar experience as in Varansi and other Ganges side temples in India: take a dip in the river and bring water up to the priest to offer to God.

Soil that is removed from in front of the temple is being taken out to the new "Muruga Hill," on San Marga path.

It doesn't seem like it from here but the hill is really quite high and you do get a fantastic view from on top. It will be a very inspiring experience for pilgrims who enter from the Rudraksha forest side. On top will be the famed image of Sanat Kumar or Lord Muruga as a mendicant renunciate "Dandapani." This is the same image of Him as found at the famed temple in South India, Palani Hills.

After going up the hill and coming down pilgrims will walk onward down the path of San Marga, the straight path to God.

Here is another view of the south end of the temple area. we are looking up from below, just above the river.

THANK YOU, GURUDEVA

For those who have been touched spiritually by Gurudeva's work, his books, his guidance, his inspired life and example and even his website, the "Thank You, Gurudeva Fund" has been established within Hindu Heritage Endowment.

Proceeds from this fund last forever; they're not a one-time gift. So gifts to this fund have eternal gratitude built into them. They live on in perpetuity.

Each month Gurudeva receives the income from the fund to be used at his own discretion to promote his work and mission around the globe. He loves this, for he knows that it comes from all the good souls who have met him and studied with him, traveled with him or just talked with him over the years. A contribution to this fund is tax-deductible.

This page is updated every day at 5:30pm Hawaii Standard Time.
