Gurudeva reviews email with Shanmuganathaswami.

Satguru Speaks

Cybertalk: Gurudeva makes the distinction clear between those who complain about rules, and those who follow them happily. He also outlines the practices and principles of the Saivite Hindu family, and how Lord Siva teaches his devotee by revealing to them and concealing from them.

Our beautiful Ganesha from Nepal that adorns the entrance to the path up to the temple. Pilgrims who have worshipped here have had visions of Ganesha during the night after going back to their hotel for the evening.

Sadhaka Nilakantha consults with Yoginathaswami on Siddhidata Kulam projects and work.

Brahmacharis Saravan Veylan and Nathakumaran at work in the Pilliyar Kulam, our business, sales and publications distribution department.

Sannyasin Muruganathaswami, one of our most senior monastics handles the important work of bank deposits and travel arrangements.

Brahmachari Nanthakumaran

Jeff Griffin who was the superintendent in charge of the Iraivan Temple foundation pour, (on the right) formed his own company recently, Trade Winds construction. We immediately hired him for some renovation work in the monastery. The monastery building is over 50 years old and gradually room by room we are trying to upgrade the facilities for the monks and resident guests.

Electricians are putting in new lights in the expanded dining area.

Here we see what arriving pilgrims experience on entrace to the monastery property, after worshipping at the Nepali Ganesha, they start up this Tiruneri Path ot the Shiva temple.

On the right side of the path there is the "Bangalore Gallery," which houses some of the stones from India which are display. In front is this lovely wooden carving of Ganesha.

A model of the future Iraivan temple.

A close up photo of the inside of the model.

Look, it's a movie!

This is our "time capsule." The Iraivan temple is being built to last 1000 years. Inside this capsule various things will be deposited with a request that the capsule be opened 1000 years later. This specially engineered metal capsule has valves for the removal of oxygen and the insertion of argon gas in hopes of creating an absolutely inert environment for 10 centuries.

The simple iron tools of the silpis, stone carvers, of Bangalore, India.

One of the stones of the temple. This is from the side of the main sanctum from which will flow out the Tirtha (Holy Water) from the abhishekam (bathing of the crystal Shiva Lingam.)

Just after dark, the final light of day fades away. The giant Albezia trees' elegant forms slowly disappear into the peaceful night.

Our garden is "really pumping." as weather warms up and spring has arrived in full force. Our "mulch" garden is a great success as the layers of wood chips have begun to decompose and the layers of mulch maintain moisture through the hot days and pick up water in the occasionally rains. All the bugs and worms are happy too because they don't have to get chewed up every couple of months by our loud and noisy tractor.

Sannyasin Skandanathaswami, the head of our business department, manages all the budgets, accounting and deposits to Hindu Heritage Endowment.

"EEREH" (which is the shum word for cat) the office mascot.

He's a big powerful tabby. But you have to watch out because we think he was a tiger in his last life. . .his idea of playing with you is to sink his teeth deep into your arm or foot as you pass by. . .it's just a game to him.

Photos from Easvan and Devi Param who were Gurudeva's representatives at the grand opening of the Tiruvalluvar Statue at Kanya Kumari, South India.

They received momentos of the occasion on Gurudeva's behalf.

This incredible project, a 133-foot tall conmpletely stone statue of Saint Tiruvalluvar, is fully covered in a fantastic article with fabulous photos in the up-and-coming May-June issue of Hinduism Today. Don't miss it. . .be sure to get a physical copy of the magazine. You won't believe this historic creation happened in the 20th Century
