Title: Group Prayer; Free Will
Category: Good Conduct
Duration: 2 min., 26 seconds

Another question from a cyberspace cadet, wanting to know the benefit of community prayers, lot of people praying the same way for the same benefits.

This definitely will catch the attention of the Gods and the Devas. An entire group of people marching together, praying together asking for the same benefits will catch their attention. The group helps the individual and the individual helps the group. The prayers will be surely answered.

A very complicated question from the University of Connecticut, about free will and one thing being connected to another. "As I look back through life, one choice is connected to another choice which is connected to another decision. Isn't that fatalism? Maybe I need a new definition of free will and of karma."

Karma is like gravity. It never fails. But we have many ways of protecting ourselves from falling and being in the hands of gravity. We build buildings, floors, platforms and many more things. That is called dharma.

We learn by our success and by our mistakes. We have free will to make our decisions within the bounds of dharma or outside the bounds of dharma, which is called adharma. So we can't get all mixed about dharma. We can't make our decisions within the laws of Christianity, Islam, Judaism, existentialism, materialism. We must make our decisions in the line of dharma, the law of the Santana Dharma, the Eternal Truth.

One of the problems of religion all over the world - Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism - is that they send their young people to western Universities, as a good religious person within the bounds of their religion. They come out as existentialists, and materialists and sometimes, atheists. Religion is going downhill, because of the failure of that generation.

Satguru Speaks

Cybertalk: A cyber-devotee asks for the Guru's advice on quitting smoking, saying he doesn't even want to think about smoking. We can see from the answer that Gurudeva could never work for R.J. Reynolds, Co.

Innersearch Photos and News:

Members of the Innersearch entourage line up outside the cruise ship.

News: March 30th, Gurudeva arrived in Trinidad and was greeted by a large group at the ship. On Tuesday, Acharya Palaniswami called to leave a message saying:

"We are reporting in from a phone at a little Indian market on St Kitts island. Everything is great on the boat, first time on land for three days, everyone is well healthy and strong. The sea calmed down and the little seasickness has passed. We are on a wonderful boat, giant, gloriously designed, tastefully decorated. The crew loves our group. Keeps telling us that we bring such a beautiful energy to the ship, never had a group like this. Appalonia, director of social services studied yoga in New York for 12 years.

We are involved in our daily class regimen. Gurudeva is changing lives especially for a few individuals in very positive way. He has done some skits for his class, very creative interesting plays. . . he is having all the innerseachers play parts of different stories we will tell you about later.

Gurudeva and Pundits outside cruise ship. At right is Pundit Narendra Ragoonanan. Mrs. Ragoonanan, Ashvinee, has been instrumental in distributing Gurudeva books and Hinduism Today in Trinidad for nearly a decade now.

Gurudeva and elder Pundit Ragoonanan [Narendra's father] meet just outside the ship.

Archaya Palaniswami and Anil Mahabir outside the port at 8:30AM. Anil is our Hinduism Today correspondent in Trinidad

We called Trinidad to try to find our how the day went, Mrs. Mahabir said Anil hadn't gotten home yet but gave some news:

"The first meeting at the convention hall was totally packed, 1200 people came. . .everyone wanted to touch Gurudeva's feet and he signed many books. Then Gurudeva and the monks had a "closed door" meeting with the leaders of Maha but made it to the next temple and there were another 800 people waiting there."

Gurudeva and entourage proceeding from port to car park. More photos and reports of the events will run tomorrow.

Now Back to Our Monastery on Kauai

It is Sadhu Paksha at the monastery. . . a time of quiet and retreat. all our outside contractors are on leave now. . .as no one enters the monastery during this time. Its very peaceful and serene.

Outside the rear of the monastery building we have 27 mounds for growing herbs and vegetable. . .it is called "Nakshatra Garden"

Sunrise over the Hindu Monastery of Mauritius. (March 29th)

Today we had the surprise visit of six Swami Narayan swamis visiting Mauritius with a delegation from Gujarat. They are being hosted by members of Mauritius' Gujarati community.

Sitting with a blue striped shirt is Mr. Harish Patel, a friend and supporter of the Spiritual Park. He has donated materials and labor to place the foundation of the Panchaganapati Mandapam.

We had the visit of a fine banker, today, Mr. Jaunke who has great interest in spiritual life.

In our Pancha Ganapati gardens, we have this fish pond.

Today, we took our monthly Spiritual Park newsletter to the printer, Mr. Rishi of L'Amicale Printing in Riviere du Rempart. He will have the job done in a couple of days, and then we will mail it to about 500 people who have donated to, or in one way or another helped, the Park during February. A few donors from abroad will also receive a copy.

Then Brahmachari Rajadeva Alahan left for the capital city of Port-Louis to run some errands.

Meet Siven, the tireless gardener and general caretaker who helps us tremendously in taking care of the physical aspect of the property. Here he is taking a break from weedwhacking. Like virtually all Mauritians, Siven is a very religious man. He and his wife have recently discovered Ayurveda, and it has brought much well being into their lives.

As far as I am concerened when the soul departs the physical body, for death, one chapter of life has ended and another chapter of life has begun. A total continuum, except that now, after departing the physical body, they are full time alive. Don't have to sleep.

In our 50 years of our spiritual organization, we have documented birth to death to birth again, within our lives of our devotees and close initiates. A continuum of birth to death to birth to death. A continuum of karmas in unbroken continuity. That makes up a spiritual, alive, religious organization.

Title: Nature of the Soul Part 1
Category:
Duration:

That question was so beautifully put. Within the question are many, many answers.

We will begin by mentioning that in the Sanatana Dharma are protocols of various initiations and the initiation begins a series of teaching. And, these series of teaching begin a series of practices, in a certain environment.

As soon as we have our initiation, its called a samskara, of writing the first letter of the alphabet in rice on a big plate in the temple. That begins to, the development of the intellect. As the intellect develops we think we are the intellect. Before developing the intellect we were a bundle of emotions, the older soul, we were just the soul. But the intellect becomes very fascinating. It goes on and on and on, it gets bigger and bigger and bigger, in a controlled environment which is called the school.

For an older soul, it becomes religious. Younger souls are not religious at all. Somebody says to you "I am not religious.", he is saying, "I am a very young soul. I am on my way up, from the bottom of the ladder to the top." When the intellect begins asking "Who am I, Where did I come from? Where am I going? What is religion? How can I bring religion into my life", then the soul begins to come forward and dominate the intellect. This also happens with an initiation, called "mantram diksha", and in a controlled environment called a shrine room in the home or a temple.

The intellect begins to study the scriptures as well as in daily life, successful in daily life and whatever enterprise, the enterprise the individual is in and the life becomes balanced, between the inner life within the shrine room and the temple and outer life, in the external world. And that's the environment of balance that everyone is seeking for, in their lives.

At this time, on this planet, in this yuga, there are many, many younger souls who are not interested in religion and very few older souls who are interested in religion. The planet is off-balance. That's why we are having all the problems. In the next yuga, there will be more older souls than younger souls. That's the environment in which we are living in, at this particular time.

Therefore, the first realization is that I am not the body, the mind and the emotion. I am just the pure soul. And the mind and the soul is superconscious, it is intuitive, its immediate. It is living in the eternity of the moment. Not worried about the past, and it does not have great plans for the future. It is just right now, totally alive, totally expressing itself. Having a balanced life between job and profession and an inner life, within the temple and the meditation room, we keep the balance between the intellect and the soul. Not always possible, to realize that you are a divine soul, when you are in the external world.
