Title: Dreaming of the Gods
Category: God and Lords of Dharma
Duration: 1 min., 26 seconds

Cybertalk: An interesting question comes in from Norway, from Nordic Pagan. This devotee says that he regularly dreams of the Pagan Gods, but Hindu Gods have been appearing in his dreams as well. What does this mean, Gurudeva? Gurudeva answers that Hindus are "Asian Pagans" and he explains that Paganism and Hinduism are very close.

Title: How to Send a Prayer to the Devas
Category: God and Lords of Dharma
Duration: 4 min., 19 seconds

The question is, "In sending prayers to the devas, are there any guidelines on how to write the prayers?"

Some things we have to go through, we have to experience. Yes, there are guidelines. We should always give alternatives of what we would be content with, what we would be happy with.

For instance, you are wondering you are making a prayer about summer vacation. "Shall we go to Europe, Canada, India, or Australia?" Those are four alternatives that you might be content with. The devas will take this prayer and they will look into your karmas of going to Europe, or Australia, and see what would come up in your karma, if you went to Australia, and what if you went to Europe. Then, they would make a big thought form about the one that would be the very best place for you to go. They would all stand together close to you and make a big thought form, and that would begin standing out in your mind, more than all the other places. You would have the desire to go there, and you sort-of forget about the other alternatives that you have. You'll know that your prayer has been answered. That's how they work with you.

They cannot help you unless they are asked to help you. Because, many of these devas are not allowed to entangle themselves in human karmas. Some of them also, might also cause themselves to reincarnate for a time, into a fleshy body. So, they keep apart. If you ask, you take the one step, then you allow them to take nine steps for you and help you with the prayer.

If you are going through a bad time in your karma, they will help you get into the mental framework, so that you are able to understand what you are going through. They may not be able to stop what you are going through, but, the understanding of what you are going through, getting a lesson of the experience will be more benefit than stopping the experience obviously. Many of the devas in the inner world work together and talk together and communicate together. If it's too much for them to handle, they go to the mahadevas, who will give the advise and handle these various things that come up in living in the human life, in the human body. To just depend on the inner world devas to do everything for you, is weakening to the individual. There are many, many things that you can do yourself. They say, "When the will rises and commands, the Gods are willing to obey." So, you have to use your willpower first, and try your very best to do the very best that you can. Then, you get all the devonic help. So, don't just send the prayers and say, you know, "Live my life for me, inner world beings. I am not going to do anything. Just sit back and put my feet up and let you do everything for me." It does not work that way, you know, it does not work that way.If you are going through a bad time in your karma, they will help you get into the mental framework, so that you are able to understand what you are going through. The Vemparala family has darshan with Gurudeva.

The family went for a walk on San Marga and here, on the lovely "Path of the Saivite Saints" Sanjay bathes the large open air Shiva Lingam, in a traditional style of simple outdoor worship.

Then his father, Sekhar. . .

And Mother Sujata

Sanjay and Sriram pose with Lord Ganesha at the outdoor San Marga Sanctuary.

At the Wailua river there is a place where an inland stream falls down to merge with the main river. It's a magical place we call "Bali Hai."

The boys stand in front of the river which is low and quiet today. This area is just south of the new Iraivan Temple. Here pilgrims and devotees come to sit on the rocks and perform Wailua Ganga Sadhana. . .trying to feel the perfection of the universe and to merge their consciousness with the flow of the river as it moves on, unobstructed, to merge with the sea, just as the individual soul should flow freely forward in its evolution to Merge with Siva.

Our guests join the Hinduism Today staff in their new office.

A wonderful view of the Mount Waialeale on a perfectly clear day with the Wailua river below. Though some of us have lived here for 30 years, still we are awestruck every day by the gift of life and beauty of this island. Thank you Siva!

SINGAPORE/MALAYSIA YAGNA YATRA

Gurudeva has accepted an invitation to attend a large Agnihotra yagna at Batu Caves June 3-4, organized by Dr. G. Paramasivam, managing director of Aboorvas company. The yagna is called "Aboorvas Anmeega Yathirai" and is expected to draw 50,000 devotees. The Aboorvas company is financing air tickets and accomodations for Gurudeva and two more mathavasi. Gurudeva is also bringing a third. The three traveling with Gurudeva will be Acharya Kumarswami, Sadhaka Thondunatha and Sadhaka Japendranatha. Following is a tentative schedule, meaning it's not confirmed: Gurudeva will first stop in Singapore for two nights. He arrives in Singapore on May 31 afternoon and flights to Kuala Lumpur on June 2 morning. Three temples in Singapore have invited Gurudeva's presence, where he will conduct book signings in the evenings. In Malaysia, Gurudeva will meet on June 2 evening with Academy students preparing to become vratasishya, and any young men interested in the mathavasi path. June 3 and 4 are the two days for the yagna, so Gurudeva will be committed to the yagna during that time. June 5 is yet to be schedule. Gurudeva leaves Malaysia back to Hawaii on the afternoon of June 6. After the book signings in Singapore, Gurudeva will have a large book release/signing in Malaysia on June 3, Saturday afternoon at the yagna, and at a large hall on Sunday that Brahmacharinis Chudikadevi and Gowri are organizing. We sincerely hope that all Academy students and Church members will help as much as possible to make these events a large success.

THANK YOU, GURUDEVA

For those who have been touched spiritually by Gurudeva's work, his books, his guidance, his inspired life and example and even his website, the "Thank You, Gurudeva Fund" has been established within Hindu Heritage Endowment.

Proceeds from this fund last forever; they're not a one-time gift. So gifts to this fund have eternal gratitude built into them. They live on in perpetuity.

Each month Gurudeva receives the income from the fund to be used at his own discretion to promote his work and mission around the globe. He loves this, for he knows that it comes from all the good souls who have met him and studied with him, traveled with him or just talked with him over the years. A contribution to this fund is tax-deductible.

This page is updated every day at 5:30pm Hawaii Standard Time.
