Gurudeva teaching Shum. From the Shum perspective we see the mind as already finished and awareness travels from one area of the mind to another. The Shum language provides a map, naming inner areas of consciousness. Many inner areas of consciousness we have no names for in English or Sanskrit. In meditation you can identify these areas and consciously merge with them. Some areas you may have experienced before and others you may have to work to discover. It is like learning about Bali, but never having been there, but you have a map and a full concept of what it's like, so you can direct awareness there and finally actually go and experience Bali in Indonesia directly. The Shum language opens doors to the vast areas of consciousness, of which normal consciousness experienced by most is only one-tenth of the total mind.

Title: Rudraksha and Ahimsa
Category: Good Conduct
Duration: 1 minute, 14 seconds

A cyberspace devotee in Malaysia who's a meat eater is wondering whether it's all right to wear rudraksha beads till he can become "vegie".

Of course wear the rudraksha bead with great pride, don't hesitate at all to go to the temple and realize that ahimsa, not harming animals and people is the primary object as well as your good health in being a vegetarian. Set some time aside daily to study Dancing with Siva, Living with Siva and Merging with Siva and Saivism will become a great part of your life, you'll become a super Saivite.

A cyberspace devotee, from a lot of numbers before aol.com wondering about ahimsa. He killed a spider.

Apologize to the world of the spiders and all the other insects and don't kill anymore spiders and you'll be performing ahimsa very, very nicely.

Lord Ganesha in our Kadavul Hindu temple.

Worship of Lord Ganesha is fundamental to all spiritual practice. Lord Ganesha protects and guides the life of the individual, opening inner doors, guiding the timing of events, giving us a clear vision for living the life of dharma required for spiritual evolution.

Iraivan temple fund raising mailings ever in progress. Here Sadhaka Thondunatha and Brahmachari Sivananda work together. Please donate generously

This lovely statue of Lord Shiva was carved in Bali and brought home from a recent pilgrimage made by Sadhunathan Nadesan and his wife Danya.

The sacred homa fire. Symbol of the most primary religious rites from the Vedas, an ancient tantric method for what religion really is: the communication between the beings of the Three Worlds; God and Gods in the Sivaloka, devas and higher beings in the heavenly astral realms and this Bhuloka, earth plane where we live, bound by the conscious mind experiences of the fives senses. The Vedic Fire rites set up a connection and open a door between these worlds.

Number three of the four Vedic Rishis being carved in India.

Iraivan Temple Carving Site, Bangalore, India
An eleven acre site in Bangalore, India, where 75 Indian families live and daily carve the sacred white granite edifice of Iraivan Temple which will soon begin to be assembled on the island of Kauai

This is a side view of the palagai, turn your head to the left and imagine you were looking up at the ceiling at the top of a pillar of the Iraivan temple. This is how it looks sideways. It took about 400 hours to carve a single pieces and we have four of these!

Sunday was a busy day for us and this was one of the wonderful families that visited the Park. Mr. Servansingh (third from left) brought members of his extended family to enjoy the tranquility of the park. His brother Raj is the engineer who designed the foundation for the Panchamukha Ganapati Mandapam and spent many hours preparing architectural drawings of the reinforcement and building details to meet the requirements of the government of Mauritius. We have, for years, appreciated his donation of professional time and energy so very freely.

Mr. Vel Sookalingam, from nearby Goodlands, center, with Mr. M. Lingam, left, and Mr. Anthony, right, two dear friends of his from Malaysia. Mr. Sookalingam has been a staunch suporter of the island, and so, when he had guests from abroad, it was natural for him to bring them to visit Ganesha. Mr. Lingam, left, is the Group Managing Director for the Malaysian branch of a large Japanese firm, Nishihara, which specializes in design and construction of large water and waste water treatment plants around the world. He has a very special piece of land in Kuala Lumpur which he intends to develop along the same lines as the spiritual park.

Darshani Peruman in Mauritius, daughter of Vedapraggesen and Malini Peruman, who are dikshasishyas in Gurudeva's Saiva Siddhanta Church. She poses at the dharmasala. Lucky little girl to be raised by parents who will never hit her or use corporal punishments, but be raised with love and respect.

THANK YOU, GURUDEVA

For those who have been touched spiritually by Gurudeva's work, his books, his guidance, his inspired life and example and even his website, the "Thank You, Gurudeva Fund" has been established within Hindu Heritage Endowment.

Proceeds from this fund last forever; they're not a one-time gift. So gifts to this fund have eternal gratitude built into them. They live on in perpetuity.

Each month Gurudeva receives the income from the fund to be used at his own discretion to promote his work and mission around the globe. He loves this, for he knows that it comes from all the good souls who have met him and studied with him, traveled with him or just talked with him over the years. A contribution to this fund is tax-deductible.
