Title: "Antar Mandir", The Inner Temple
Category: Temples and Temple Worship
Duration: 11 minutes, 23 seconds

Cybertalk: I am working on an article countering the intention of some in North India to build a Sri Ram temple at Ayodhya whether it causes violence or not. We should also be thinking about our inner temple, the "antar mandir." What is our inner temple? It is our soul body. Outer temples are important, of course, but if in creating them we have arguments or violence, it disconnects us from our inner temple. With regard to the building of Iraivan Temple Gurudeva said that the foundation would be laid when his close devotees had purified themselves sufficiently through sadhana and tapas. To some people the inner temple is really far away because of the impurities they face, or don't face, in their subconscious mind. In the inner temple we have the ultimate, most important darshan of God and the Gods. The inner and outer temple must be looked at as a whole, two parts working together. "Antar mandir jai!"

Lord Ganesha can grant His Bhaktars five shaktis: the Yellow Shakti of harmony in the home, the dark Blue Shakti of harmony among other relatives and neighbours outside the home; the Red Shakti of harmony in the world of business affairs, community transactions. If this foundation of harmony is strong then He grants the fourth Power: the Green Shakti which brings forth religious inspiration, cultural creativity, dance, music, temple rites... then, from the worship of God Ganesha grants the Fifth, Orange Shakti of overflowing Love of God which manifests itself through the spirit of giving: giving our time, our financial resources, our intelligence, our service. When these Shaktis are strong in our lives, only then can we begin to perform yoga on a stable platform...

If the five Shaktis of Lord Ganesha are strong, then the Actinic Lord Of Light, Lord Muruga can work His magic in our lives... Worship of Lord Muruga grants the Light Blue Shakti, spiritual aspiration, dedication to sadhana, the will power to perservere in meditation and tapas.

Then from these Shaktis we can enter the portals of the White Shakti, the Diamond Dust Darshan of Lord Siva and into the Clear Shakti of God Realization.

All this inner unfoldment and inner spiritual culture emerges from the Hindu temple... Gurudeva said: "It is true as some people like to say, that God is everywhere. They ask why then the need for a temple. I tell them, the sun is out, but if you have a magnifying glass you can start a fire. God's presence is everywhere, but in the Hindu temple there is a power that can spark your spiritual life."

"Don't think... just perceive." --Gurudeva

"Go for a walk and try this sadhana... open your eyes and try to find each of the colors of the shum images somewhere in nature." -- Gurudeva.

Kamsatyamne -- A shum word for the mountain top perspective held by one who holds his mind in the fourth dimension of consciousness from where one sees below the inter-related magnetic forces between people and people and people and their things while simultaneously seeing above the realms of Divine cognition, Divine sight and Divine Realization.

Let go the rope, flow joyfully with the river of life to merge with the Ocean of Being, Consciousness and Bliss.

Title: Take a Moment to Listen to the Birds
Category: Self Improvement
Duration: 1 min., 29 seconds
Date Given: March 11, 2002
Given by: Bodhinatha

It is that time of year on Kauai when it is warming up a little bit and one of the changes is, there are more birds singing.
Why are we talking about birds singing? Well, because it is nice to stop and listen to the birds. They are so inspiring, so beautiful. It is also a good check on our state of awareness. Sometimes, we are so wrapped up in our own thinking processes, our own emotions that we don't perceive the beauties of nature. We don't stop and listen to the birds.

In fact, there were some extra birds singing this morning. As if they knew I was going to talk about birds, they were chirping away during our meditation.

It is a wonderful practice to observe the beauties of nature both just to enjoy as well as to make sure we are stopping our mind from thinking and being absorbed in our concerns and our emotions and so forth.

There were some beautiful clouds last night. I was out walking and enjoyed the clouds. Palaniswami tells me we have had some beautiful sunsets recently. I missed one.

We are so fortunate to be surrounded by so much beauty. It is wonderful to stop and enjoy it as part of our life.
