Today was Sun Five and Bodhinatha chose his theme, again from the Master Course, on the subject of Ahimsa. He explained that ahimsa means not hurting in thought, word and deed and he delved into concept of only speaking that which is "true, kind, helpful and necessary." He used specific examples of remarks that people might make that would not pass this test... "gossip" for example, certainly does not! Listen for his talk in the days ahead.
Our Kauai members have collected a number of healthy sprouting coconuts which will eventually go out to our new land across the river. Though little used on Kauai, in Asia a coconut tree is viewed as an "endowment." We will need thousands of coconuts in the years ahead.
Many of these will sprout soon, if they aren't used first for coconut chutney.

This is a rare shot of the temple work as course number eight continues to progress. We are waiting for more reinforcements to be installed in the retaining walls below and then these will be covered with sand.
Here is Shanmuga Sthapati who returned yesterday from India after attending his son's wedding. Raman shows him some of the work that has been done while he was away.
This is one side of the temple door frames.
From the Northeast corner of the temple area we get a good view of the sanctum as it rises. In order to assure proper drainage, the landscaping around the temple has been deliberately "carved down.' This gives Iraivan a "lofty" presence as you walk up a gentle slope to reach the temple, then there is the four foot foundation, followed by the floor which will be about 1 1/2 feet above the foundation and then the entrance to the sanctum is again several feet higher. It is going to be magnificent! Please, donate today!
