Title: Non-stealing or Non-coveting Part 2
Category: Yamas and Niyamas
Duration: 4 minutes, 10 seconds
Date Given: June 11, 2002
Date Posted: July_4_2002
Given by: Bodhinatha

Cybertalk: Bodhinatha talks today on not coveting, an aspect of the yama asteya, nonstealing. Gurudeva described it as owning something mentally and emotionally without actually owning it physically. This easily leads to abusing credit as well as the lower instinctive emotions of envy and jealousy.

Bodhinatha will be happy to hold "Prasnottara Satsang" -- "Questions and Answers" over the telephone with any Hindu religious societies, Hindu youth groups, Radio talk show hosts etc. All you need is a phone with a speaker and an enthusiastic audience. Arrangements may be made in advance by sending email to Sadhaka Mahadevan

Out Sun One Homa was magnificent and the fire was dancing. It has been documented that in some homas in some temples the flames will actually take the shape of the Deity.

Our homa priest, Sadhaka Tyaganatha performs the final arati.

Prostrations.... by the faithful. Note that we have moved temporarily Gurudeva's seat to the Southwest corner of the temple as we are in the process of building a beautiful shrine for him in the Southeast corner (to the left in the back in this photo, out of view).

Following the homa we had an interesting and unusual ceremony. Our Wailua Mission is taking up the project of harvesting and processing the bountiful crop of Rudraksha seeds that rain from our trees every year. To give the project a thrust from the inner worlds a ceremony was held. Here we perform a short blessing for the small pressure washed donated by Shyamadeva Dandapani to the project.

The pressure washer is used to clean out the fruit fibers from the Rudraksha seed without damaging them.

All the members come forward to touch a basket full of seeds passed to them by Bodhinatha.

The rudrakshas from our trees are a great blessing and now we look forward to processing these and making them available to the world as a fund raiser for Iraivan Temple.

This wonderful guest is Durlabh Borad. He is a teacher at the Global College of Gayatri in Chatsworth, in California. He addressed Bodhinatha and was full of praise, saying that attending our homa he observed an amazing degree of faith in every single one of the devotees and that this was something extremely rare that he really appreciated. He wanted Bodhinatha to know he felt that something very special was happening here at the Aadheenam and he was very glad he came on this pilgrimage.

A wonderful family from Florida, Mr. Krishaswami Alladi, Mathura Alladi and their two daughters Lalitha and Amrita brought their parents from Chennai, Mr. & Mrs. Alladi and Lalitha Ramakrishnan.

While both Mathura and Lalitha are accomplished Carnatic singers, younger Lalitha and her sister are Bharatha Natyam dancers.

They sang for Kadavul Nataraja after puja which created a devotional atmosphere that was very elevating.

Mr. Alladi commented that " being here at Kauai Aadheenam is the most elevating spiritual experience shared with my family just as in Thirumala, India. We felt we were in Kailas, on America's Independence Day".

Everyone really enjoys seeing the temple close up like this. It is a rare experience, even a once in a lifetime experience for many people, to see a stone temple being hand carved and assembled.

The silpis want to send a big Mahalo, Thank You, Nandri. to Kasi Ramanathan and family in Illinois for sending Tamil magazines for the silpi house library.

There were religious oriented publications that also carry news of temple activities and current affairs in Tamil Nadu.

Our silpis are really cut off from the world, and in some ways live a more austere life than the monks. At least we have a big family of 20 brothers around us all day. So, please, you to can send things. Tamil videos, CD's and music cassettes are preferred. Mail to:

Help us keep our temple moving forward; support the ancient art of stone temple building and the men and families who have dedicated their lives to this work.

Golden Gate Mission

Hinduism continues to spread in the US and it is noteworthy that Lord Ganesha now has a temple in the capital city of California: Sacramento. Here is Vanita Katir from our Golden Gate Mission dancing at the cultural performances following the kumbhabhishekam of the new temple.
