Hindu Year 5104: Chitrabhanu, the "Year of Varied Splendors"

-- Site Map --

One of the many mission achievements of Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami was the dissemination of Hindu teachings via the internet. An avid user of email himself, he innovated the now very popular "Daily Inspiration" sending of lessons, excerpts from holy books etc. to subscribers around the world. We are happy to announce an innovation that he requested in the months prior to his Maha Samadhi, which is the dissemination of our Holy Vedas in a systematic, organized fashion. Our "Daily Verses" email subscribers will now receive five verses from the Rig Veda one day, five verses from the Yajur Veda on day two, five verses of the Atharva Veda on day three and five verses for the Sama Veda on the fourth day. This will continue through the year. We hope you enjoy the new format which brings forward to modern times, accessible to all, humanity's oldest living scriptures. For those who are not familiar with the services, you may subscribe at:

It often amazes us to stand back and look at the temple and think that it is being put together by seven silpis here with the help of our small Siddhidata Kulam team and the most basic of tools. Here we have sand ready to be mixed into the thin mortar that is used underneath the pillars at the base.

Final adjustments on the pillars. Our silpis have sun barriers up around them. They say that the Hawaiian sun has a even sharper, burning quality than the sun in India! And the weather here has taken a sharp turn to high temperatures during the day.

Here are the pillars that will be going up soon. The huge vertical beams that were holding up the retaining walls will also be cut off at the current lower level and the sanctum will really be in full sight.

The Agni Mandapam on San Marga where outdoor community homas are held occasionally.

The mortar that goes between the stone is extremely fine. Here is Chinnu, the silpi's outstanding cook, who pitches in after lunch hours to help, sifting sand instead of flour!

Iraivan Wonders

Order Rudraksha Malas from Siva's sacred Hawaiian groves; and gorgeous 2003 Iraivan Calendars with Hindu festival days on them. Great for Gifts! All proceeds go to the building fund.

We take a giant step over to Bangalore, India where we see images of Iraivan's wonderments.

Fantastic shots of the four fluted black granite tara pillars!

Sthapati says it took 6,120 man days to achieve this, which means 17 years of work for a single carver!

Sthapati also informed us today that this is the first time in a century that fluted pillars of this scale have been attempted in India.

If you would like to sponsor one of these amazing creations, don't hesitate!

Pieces of the bases.

Additional points on the upper potagai.

These will be ready to ship to Hawaii soon.

Jai Iraivan!
