 Pilgrims have darshan with Bodhinatha:
Dr. Komanduri Narayana and his wife from Miami, Florida. They met Gurudeva at the Shiva/Vishnu temple in Fort Lauderdale just before he was about to embark on the 2000 Caribbean Innersearch. Inspired by that meeting they decided to visit the Aadheenam. Dr. Narayana is here with his brother and sister-in-law.
Bodhinatha's Sun One Video. Most Recent update: September 12, 2003. Bodhinatha speaks on Ahimsa, noninjury, yama #1, which is noninjury in thought, word and deed. The law of karma decrees that it is wise not to harm or hurt others, for we will then receive harm and hurt in exchange in the future. 12 minutes, 29 seconds.
Sesha Komanduri, Dr. Narayana's brother, is pictured here with his wife and
Bodhinatha. They all enjoyed a tour of the grounds and of Iraivan Temple and
had a nice meeting with Bodhinatha discussing the future of coming
generations of Hindus in America.
Ram and Shanti Chandran from Virginia were also part of the group today that
met with Bodhinatha and toured our grounds. Shanti teaches classes to Hindu
youth in her area and was happy to receive some teaching material from the
Aadheenam
Today's tour group brought a wonderful group of school children from Anahola
The enjoyed visiting Iraivan and took home stone chips and learned about Hinduism.
Sadhaka Haranandinatha hosted this group of Japanese veterinarians.
The school children were divided into three groups with different assignments.One was to learn about the history of Hinduism. The other was to learn about the temple and the third was to learn about our activities here.
The children all chanted in Hawaiian language... here they are chanting around a model of the temple.
Such a bright new generation.
Yogi Mahadevan hosted them.
We are happy to announce the arrival of Thambynathan Girish Samugam from Singapore. Welcome back Girish!
Girish spent a period of several months at the Aadheenam when he was about 10 years old. Now he is 15... and still thinking about becoming a monk. He will be staying with us for about 2 months before returning back to school in Singapore.
Gurudeva's spiritual center in the island country of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean near South Africa
Rajen Manick write from Mauritius:
"We are sending a few photos of the Spiritual Park. We had a wonderful homa last Sunday. Lots of devotees attended. We are sending the photos in the next email.
Siven, our workman, is doing a wonderful job at the Park. The Park looks more beautiful each day through his dedicated efforts. Aum."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mr. Jayganesh Dawoosing and his family from Pailles brought a lot of visitors for the first time to the Park. Mr. Ganesh is a very active coordinator of a Hindi Sunday School in the town of Vacoas. He says the Park is a peaceful place for his young students to experience real living Hinduism!
Here are ladies of the Senior Citizens' group on one of their yearly pilgrimages to the Park one morning.
The Spiritual Newsletter has just been printed and mailed out to hundreds of friends of the Spiritual Park this month. Satguru Bodhinatha's message inside this Newsletter:
"We enjoyed being at the Spiritual Park for the Ganesha Chathurthi 2003 celebrations and having an opportunity to speak to those attending about the Gods as real beings and the importance of going to the temple regularly to experience their blessings. Gurudeva has written an insightful message about the reality of Lord Ganesha which I included in my talk: There are a great many liberal Hindus and/or Western-influenced Hindus who don?t think of Ganesha as a real being. To them He is a symbol, a superstition, a way of explaining philosophy to children and the uneducated. But this has not been my experience of our loving Lord. I have seen Him with my own eye. He has come to me in visions several times and convinced my lower mind of His reality.? Thanks to our many loyal contributors for their financial support of the Spiritual Park. Jai Pancha Mukha Ganapati."
The Ganesha Mandapam needs constant maintenance and repairs to keep it nice looking. The curved like wooden arms or railings gracefully extending out in the front needs some varnishing. Our dedicated workman, Siven Veerasamy is taking good care of them.
Siven is expertly applying some putty to the cracks in the wood.
Here is the finished job. Beautiful and clean, isn't it?
Siven Veerasamy and his daughter attending the Sunday Homa at the Ganesha Mandapam.
With summer coming on, the Park looks beautiful. From this spot one will not only enjoy a soothing sea view but also the cooling sea breeze blowing over the face.
The soft rays of the tropical sun adds more life to the immediate natural surroundings of the Kerala style Mandapam.
As usual the Sunday Homa spiritually pulls many devotees to the Park. We are posting photos of our November Homa in our next TAKA edition. Till then...
Cybertalk: Bodhinatha continues his Gurudeva mahasamadhi observances class with this part on ashtanga yoga, which is the teaching of our Nandinatha Sampradaya's Kailasa Parampara. When you go to study yoga somewhere what do you do? Asanas! But asanas (postures) are the third step. Where are steps one and two? We're coming out with a book called Yoga's Forgotten Foundation, a reprint of the chapters from Living with Siva on the yamas and niyamas. Gurudeva's lengthy insights on the yamas and niyamas are very special. If you don't start with the first step, spiritual progress through yoga is not going to work. We need to focus on a foundation of philosophical understanding and good character. Then, when that is there, we can talk about other things. We need to start with our low points, improve on them, and then we can move on in spiritual life.
