Sun Four today... Our Siddhidata Kulam conveyed news on their activities at lunchtime. There are only three in the kulam at the moment, Sannyasin Yoginathaswami, Sadhaka Adinatha and Sadhaka Nilakantha. Sannyasin Yoginathaswami read off his list today:

  • Continuing to make preparations for the capstone hoist on the temple.
  • Communications and planning for a renovation of the roof of the Aadheenam.
  • Daily grounds keeping duties.
  • Planting news -- young Kartikeya Katir participated in bean and sweet potato planting in the garden and also picking vegetable for lunch.
  • And new on our mung bean sprout operation which is doing really well a we have found a great new method... we will detail that for you one day.

This morning Bodhinatha left for his four day journey to California. We all went to say goodbye to him this morning as he left for the airport.

Bodhinatha's next journey is brief, on the weekend of April 3-4 in the San Francisco Bay Area of northern California. He will visit with Saiva Siddhanta Church members and Himalayan Academy Students.

Its always a joyous moment sending the Satguru off, knowing that many devotees will be uplifted to see Bodhinatha in the days to come.

Mr. and Mrs. Toshadeva and Kamala Guhan were an inspiring pair of Innersearchers. Though this was their first trip to India they fit in like "milk and milk," with India, as if their very last life had been in Tamil Nadu and they were just going home again! They have been long time students of Gurudeva's teachings having become Hindus a long time ago. New world Saivites to the core, they always add a great strength to any group they are with.

Ruthann Delph on the left from New York originally came from the Caribbean, she has been on several Innersearchs and tries to make a pilgrimage to Kauai nearly every year or so. Ruthann is a serious Master Course enrollee and moving forward with her studies and perhaps one day will join our Hindu family...

Ariel Lewin is also a long time student of Gurudeva's works and a world traveler. She also has a special interest in Buddhism and Tibet. After the Innersearch she and her brother went to Dharmsala to join the Dalai Lama at his camp there.

Both of these ladies are strong spirits and always uplifting to everyone around them.

From the magical eye of Dave Tropf... this Sadhu at Palani Hills shines with "tejas" the bright light of his sadhana and tapas...

Years of fasting and asceticism leaves these men with clear eyes and bright smiles. They live in the shelter of Lord Murugan's grace and power, moving forward daily with the expectation of attaining moksha in this very life.

This sadhu on the steps of Palani Hills is begging for his daily fare. From the few coins that pilgrims offer he is able to carry on with his sadhana for another few days and those who supported him gain good merit for this.

Two happy boys give us the thumbs up. Unencumbered, their natural joy makes one's own heart want to dance with them.

Cybertalk: Bodhinatha spoke today on the concept of "work is worship" in the Hindu religion. He recounted how many visitors have told him "We are so busy, Swami, we just don't have any time for spiritual things." That is a Western concept, he noted, that our life is separate from our spiritual progress. In Hinduism, work is worship. We learn to control the mind, to concentrate, by doing the things of life, by our study and our projects. Then those skills can be used in meditation. Willpower is also developed through doing things in life, by the challenges that come, the obstacles we overcome.
