We are delighted to share with you some fabulous artwork that has arrived from Chennai. These are paintings by S. Rajam scheduled for the book on Gurudeva and the lives of the Paramapara, called "Elephant Pass." We are taking a different angle TAKA today and bring you, instead of 40 photos, just half that with a few at a larger size. These paintings actually have a lot more area than we are showing you but we have taken shots of the key elements in the painting. Here is Gurudeva holding up Hinduism Today magazine, an innovation that has changed and continues to shape the face and direction of Hinduism on planet earth. This is Bodhinatha, seated on the Guru Peedam of Kauai Aadheenam, surrounded in inner worlds by great rishis and all the previous Satgurus who preceded him.
Two of those are no doubt Saint Tirumular and Saint Tiruvalluvar, who are carved in granite and sit just outside the monastery courtyard... the first large granite stone items commissioned and shipped from India. Here is Nandinatha, the Himalayan Guru from whom has flowed our spiritual lineage of 2000 years or more. With his disciples around him. One of these, Sundaranatha, was sent South to Tamil Nadu, was transformed into the Tamil seer St. Tirumular who wrote the Tirumantiram, one of the core scriptures of Saivism. Later, another sage from the Himalayas came down to Bangalore in the 1800's, we call him "The Rishi from the Himalayas." This "Rishi from the Himalayas" was a silent sage who entered a tea shop, and sat there for 7 years. The tea shop owner put up a railing around him to protect him and answers to people prayers would fall from the inner worlds on small pieces of paper that floated down from above him. Just a few days before, Kadaitswami, who was looking for his Guru, came to find him, he got up from his samadhi and walked off. Kadaitswami found him finally and studied under him for several years, was initiated and then sent to Sri Lanka. Kadaitswami was a judge in the Bangalore area of India before he renounced the world, and was ordained by the Rishi from the Himalayas and sent to Sri Lanka where he performed tapas. Then he performed many miracles and spread the message of Saivism to a community that was under a lot of pressure from the Christian influences of the colonial powers that held Sri Lanka in their grip at that time. Chellapaswami was a reclusive sage who lived like a beggar at the Nallur temple festival chariot shed. Here he is shown making palm fans. He kept his spiritual jewels for those few who could recognized his illumined state. One of these was Yogaswami, who became the next in the spiritual lineage. Then Yogaswami passed on the power to Gurudeva... Here Gurudeva is portrayed during a time when he was being shown books in the inner libraries by devas on the inner plane. He would read aloud what he saw, or the devas would give the words to him, one at a time, and the scribe seated with him wrote these down. Gurudeva leading the monks in the early morning meditation in the Guru Peedam of Kauai Aadheenam. Satguru Purnima on San Marga... Gurudeva being pulled by a chariot. Gurudeva handing out children's study books to happy young Hindus, hungry for knowledge about their religious traditions. Gurudeva with all the temples that he helped to get off the ground in many countries around the world portrayed in the background. Gurudeva presiding over the homa fire at San Marga in the years before the stone carving commenced. Bodhinatha doing sadhana near the beach in Kona, on the Big Island in the early 70's....now carrying on the teaching and spiritual power that has come down to us for centuries. Victory to the Kailasa Parampara!
Ok, here we go with some large format photos. Our innersearch study program/pilgrim participants were so wonderfully dressed at the finale dinner, we don't have the heart to make the photos too small. Here are Mr. and Mrs. Joel Knepp and Linda McClanahan from Ohio. Linda is a great singer and does a lot of choral work. Joel works in a government department that make sure that health services are rendered to those who may be incapacitated or otherwise have difficulty to take care of themselves. To Joel and Linda: It was great to get to know you! Come and visit Kauai! Long time supporters and friends, now living in Chennai, Mr. and Mrs. Narayan and Sushima Shekar and their daughter Madhuri on the right and son Niyantha on the left. Now we will pull from our collections of great shots taken by innersearchers themselves. From the Mark Boyer collection we have a few shots here of Batu caves... Here we are at the base. What a great picture of the cave entrance and the scaffolding that is going up where a giant tall stature of Lord Muruga will be erected one day. The climb to the top of Batu caves.
every day. Visit the Master Course site! Bodhinatha will be happy to hold "Prasnottara Satsang" -- "Questions and Answers" over the telephone with any Hindu religious societies, Hindu youth groups, Radio talk show hosts etc. All you need is a phone with a speaker and an enthusiastic audience. Arrangements may be made in advance by sending email to Sannyasin Saravananathaswami If you are experiencing any problems listening to the audio, please to go our Audio FAQ page and follow the directions there.
