Today Gurudeva discusses the soul, the five states of mind, desire and evolution and our choices in this life. Gurudeva tells us about Sri Sri Swami Pragyanand Maharaj of Delhi, his work, and arrival at Kauai Aadheenam during his Jayanti.

Well, greetings everyone. This is September 1st. We welcome you to 'Today at Kauai Aadheenam'. I am seeing you through cyberspace as a beautiful soul. I cannot see your physical body. I do not know your intellect. But I do know your soul.

Your soul is perfect. Untainted, untarnished, perfect, with ultimate intelligence available through your physical brain at every point in time. Many people think that they are their physical body. Many people, most do, think that they are their mind and their emotions. But actually home base, we are the soul living in a physical body, using mind and emotions as tools.

There are five states of mind - the conscious mind, the subconscious mind, the sub of the subconscious mind, the superconscious mind and the sub of the superconscious mind. There is a lot of subs and supers! They are five states of mind and you will find those in our ancient Sanatana Dharma scriptures. They are all available to use each day, every day, as we walk the journey of life.

Today, Sri Sri Swamiji Pragyanand Maharaj is arriving at our Kauai Aadheenam, Kadavul Hindu Temple for a three-day visit. He is a wonderful Swami, doesn't eat a bite of food on airplanes when he travels, eats one large meal a day and that is it. We can live by his example, all of us. He has a multi-million dollar project progressing in his home village in India, near New Delhi, of schools, hospitals, training centers, padasalas. He is to be commended. A world-travelling swami, we have known him for many, many years. He is coming here to us on his birthday, his Jayanthi, to be celebrated day after tomorrow, six o'clock in the morning, a wonderful homa. All of our swamis will be chanting 'Sri Rudram'. We have over a dozen swamis here, yogis and sadhakas, who will be chanting and meditating. He will be blessed for another year of, we hope, historic progress in his work for the upliftment of the Hindu people in his home-town village in India.

We are very happy to be welcoming you to Kauai Aadheenam, today and we want to wish you a most wonderful day. You can move the forces of the world. Do it with love. Your soul is a being of love. Your soul is a being that has no preferences. So if you have a computer, think about trashing your preferences. That is supposed to be a joke! Trash your preferences, your personal likes and dislikes, because desire is a big force within each and everyone of us. We can send it up or we can send it down. Sometimes if it goes down, we think there is no retreating. But there is, evolution over many lives will bring it up again. We have the choice in this life to send the energy up into the top of our head, strengthening the intellect.
