Om namasivaaya vaalga! Today we're in Madurai, a most colorful and lively city. Our morning was graced with having the joy of pilgrimaging to the famed Madurai Meenakshi-Sundareswarar Kovil. This temple is most famed for it's Meenakshi Ambal shrine, yet is actually a Siva temple. Like many other temples, a Sivalingam shrine is the central, main shrine, and in later years a Ambal (Shakti) shrine was added. In the case of Madurai Kovil, the Meenakshi Ambal shrine is much larger, ornate, and receives more attnention. She "took over" the temple in a most beautiful way which is so beautiful and inspiring to see.
